at PSAC Indoor Championship – East Stroudsburg, PA

Women win third-straight title, men finish third

KU celebrates winning the 2006 PSAC Women's Indoor Track & Field title

Women 1st/14 – Kutztown finished first at the PSAC Championships, with 111 points, for its third consecutive title.  Slippery Rock came in second with 92 points and IUP finished third with 89 points.  Lock Haven was fourth with 77 points, Shippensburg was fifth with 67.5.  In sixth was Clarion with 58 and in seventh was East Stroudsburg with 48.  West Chester was eighth (47.5), Edinboro ninth (44). Mansfield 10th (32), Bloomsburg 11th (12), Cheyney and Millersville tied for 12th (11), and California (PA) 14th (2).  Renee Marchand (jr. Hawley/Wallenpaupack) set a school record in the pentathlon finishing with 3,396 points.  Alison Maurer (sr. Lewisberry/Northern York) finished first in the 20-lb. weight throw with a distance of 54-0.  Christine Procopio (sr. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) placed second with a throw of 53-10 ½.  Lindsay Runkle (fr. Pottsville/Pottsville) came in second in the pole vault (11-2).  Marchand finished third in the high jump (5-5).  Laura Deller (so. York/Dallastown) placed fifth in the long jump (17-2 ½), Procopio came in sixth in the triple jump (35-9 Ό) and Michelle Hughes (so. Warminster/William Tennent) finished seventh in the shot put (38-05 ½).  The 4x800 relay team of Chelsea Thomas (jr. Sellersville/Pennridge), Desiree Bower (jr. Bethel/Tulpehocken), Talia McKinney (jr. Millersville/Penn Manor) and Cheryl Dingman (fr. Lansdale/North Penn) finished first with a time of 9:38.03.  The 4x400 relay team of Doofan Tor-Agbidye (fr. Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg), Jewel Daye (fr. Philadelphia/Central High), Marchand and Laura Kline (sr. Reading/Reading) placed second in 4:00.04.  The distance medley relay team of Bower, Jessica Donovan (fr. Newtown/Pennsbury), Erica Kabbeko (so. Birdsboro/Twin Valley) and Julie Karaszkiewicz (fr. Boothwyn/Garnet Valley) finished fourth in 12:50.57.  Kline finished first in the 400 in 57.88.  Jaci Pfeiffer (sr. Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) placed third in the 55 hurdles in 8.53 and Rebecca Kerchak (fr. Sinking Spring/Wilson) finished eighth in 8.93.  Tor-Agbidye finished fourth in the 200 (25.82) and Kline placed sixth (26.18).  Cheryl Dingman (fr. Lansdale/North Penn) placed fourth in the mile (5:13.37) and Bower finished seventh (5:18.95).  Dingman came in sixth in the 800 (2:22.50) and Corri Speakman (fr. Reading/Exeter) finished seventh in the 55 dash (7.60).

Men 3rd/13 – KU improved from last years fourth place finish to finish third at the PSAC Championships.  Shippensburg won the team title with 144 points.  Lock Haven placed second with 115 and Kutztown was third with 92 points.  Slippery Rock was fourth (87), East Stroudsburg fifth (56), IUP sixth (55), West Chester seventh (44), Cheyney eighth (33), California (PA) ninth (26), Millersville 10th (20), Bloomsburg 11th (12), Clarion 12th (11) and Mansfield 13th (6).  The 4x800 relay team of Dave Tidey (so. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan), Billy Boorse (jr. Collegeville/Perkiomen Valley), Ryan Jagielski (fr. Howell, NJ/Coltsneck) and Tony Hegedus (jr. Coopersburg/Southern Lehigh) finished first and set a meet record with a time of 7:49.01.  The 4x400 relay team of Steve Hixson (so. Coopersburg/Southern Lehigh), Kendel Dixon (fr. Atglen/Octorara), Matt Carroll (sr. Schwenksville/Perkiomen Valley) and Hegedus also placed first in 3:20.19.  The distance medley relay team of Pat McKeever (so. Midland Park, NJ/Midland Park), Dixon, Jagielski and John Pyne (fr. Harrisburg/Bishop McDevitt) placed sixth in 10:29.44.  Carroll finished second in the 400 (49.74).  Hixson placed seventh in the 200 (23.16).  In the 800, Boorse finished seventh (1:58.37).  In the field events, Steve Tyson (so. Bridgeport/Upper Merion) placed first in the shot put with a throw of 51-9.  Steve Winters (sr. Harrisburg/Cedar Cliff) finished first in the pole vault with a vault of 15-7 and Michael Provenzano (sr. Carlisle/Carlisle) finished second with a vault of 15-1.  In the 35-lb. weight throw, Benn Trasatt (so. Mowsville/Schuylkill Valley) placed third (49-6) and Tyson finished fourth (49-1).  Michael Turner (fr. Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) came in fourth in the long jump (23-1 ½) and Cody Hartzler (fr. Belleville/Indian Valley) placed fifth in the high jump (6-6).  Ian Clark (so. Troy, NH/Monadnock Regional) finished third in the pentathlon with 3,283 points.
