KU Women Finish Second, Men
Eighth at PSACs
Women Set Three Records
SHIPPENSBURG, PA - The
Kutztown University Women's Tack & Field team finished second at the
2007 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships at
Shippensburg University and put three KU records in the books.
The KU men placed eighth.

The Golden Bear women
scored 115.5 team points, behind only Slippery Rock, which won the
team title with 189.5 points. Lock Haven was third with 112.
Desiree Bower won
the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a KU record time of 11:06.31, shattering
the old record of 11:13.54 set by
Megan Seefeldt in 2001. The 4x100
team of Corri Speakman, Katie Quinn, Laura
Deller and Doofan Tor-Agbidye set a KU record
with a time of 48.55 (48.56, 2001) and finished fourth.
Renee Marchand set the KU record in the heptathlon
Friday.
The quartet of
Marchand, Quinn, Tor-Agbidye and Stephanie
Williams were the workhorses for Kutztown, accounting for the
bulk of KU's team points.
Marchand placed
seventh in the 100 hurdles. Quinn was second in the 200
(25.52) and third in the 100 (12.38) to earn All-PSAC honors in both
races. Tor-Agbidye was third in the 400 (57.02) to earn
all-conference honors, while also placing sixth in the 200.
After winning the 10,000 on Friday, Williams placed second in
both the 3,000 (10:16.53) and 5,000 (17:35.81), with NCAA
provisional times in both races.
Marchand,
Quinn and Tor-Agbidye were also joined by Brooke
McMurray on the fourth-place 4x400 relay team. Joanna
Horstmann placed third in the 800 (2:17.09) to round out
Kutztown's All-PSAC performers
The Golden Bear men
scored 28.5 points. Lock Haven edged Shippensburg for the
men's crown, 139-138. Slippery Rock was third at 134.
Cheyney finished seventh with 45 points, while Clarion was behind KU
in ninth with 21.
Steve Tyson
highlighted KU's effort, winning the shot put with a distance of
53-0 3/4. The trio of Justin Gibbs (14.82), VonKurt
Redley (15.18) and Cory Crider (15.79) placed fourth,
seventh and eighth in the 110 hurdles.

Marchand sets KU record in
Heptathlon, Williams wins 10,000
Weigle and McMurray earn
All-PSAC honors
SHIPPENSBURG, PA -
Kutztown University's Renee Marchand set a KU record in the
women's heptathlon at the 2007 Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference Championships at Shippensburg University on Friday.
Marchand, who had
set the record earlier this season with 4,596 points, shattered her
mark by winning the event with 4,698 points. She won four of the seven
events. Rebecca Kerchak finished eighth with 3,680.
Stephanie
Williams won the 10,000 meter run in a time of 37:16.46.
Rachel Weigle
earned All-PSAC honors by finishing third in the pole vault with a height
of 10-11 1/2. Brooke McMurray also earned All-PSAC
with a third place showing in the high jump with a height of 5-5
3/4.
Kelly
Strickland tied for fourth in the pole vault with a height of
10-5 1/2. Renee Marchand placed fourth in the long jump
with a distance of 18-1, one inch short of the KU record (Andrea
Sellitti, 2001). Laura Deller came in seventh with a
distance of 17-8. Michelle Hughes was seventh in the
shot put with a throw of 38-8 1/4.
In the men's decathlon,
Shane Reigel finished as the top KU athlete with 5,879 points
to finish in eighth place. Ian Clark came in 11th
with 5,605 points and Tim Ohm placed 13th with 4,373 points.
In the hammer throw,
Chris Boutsikaris
finished eighth with a throw of 143-6. Steve Tyson
placed seventh in the discus with a throw of 147-10.
The remainder of the
field events, and the bulk of the track events will be completed on
Saturday, the final day of the competition.

Marchand 1st in Heptathlon
after Day 1
SHIPPENSBURG, PA - Kutztown
University's Renee Marchand leads the field after four events
of the women's heptathlon at the 2007 Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference Championships at Shippensburg University.
Marchand won two of the four events
and placed second in the other two. She has 2,838 points.
Millersville's Michele Frayne has 2,692 points for second place.
Rebecca Kerchak has 2,284
points.
In the men's decathlon, Ian Clark
has 3,296 points the best showing among four KU competitors,
through five events.
