HARTZLER
PLACES EIGHTH, WINS ALL-AMERICA STATUS
MANKATO, Minn.
— Cody Hartzler (jr. Belleville/Indian Valley) tied for
eighth in the high jump at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and
Field ChampionshipsFriday
at Minnesota State University-Mankato.

Hartzler finished with a jump of
6-5 to tie him with Emporia State's Craig Saalfeld. St.
Augustine's Joe Kindred won the national title with a jump of
6-11.
With his eighth-place finish, Hartzler is now an All-America high
jumper. The top eight athletes in each event are named All-America.
He qualified for nationals when he
cleared 6-10 1/4 to win the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference
title and set a new school record in the high jump.
DART PLACES
SEVENTH IN SHOT PUT, TYSON NINTH
MANKATO, Minn.
— Jim Dart (sr. Havertown/Haverford) placed seventh in the
shot put at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field
Championships Saturday at Minnesota State University-Mankato.

Dart's throw of 54-08 3/4 earned him
All-America honors for the first time in his collegiate career.
Thrower Steve Tyson (sr. Bridgeport/Upper Merion) came up 1.25 inches short of All-America honors in the shot put, placing ninth with a throw of 53-09 1/4.
Ashland senior
Bryan Vickers won the national title with a throw of 62-08 3/4.
Tyson entered nationals as PSAC Champion, and Dart qualified earlier in the season.
Tyson beat out his teammate, Dart, to capture his third-straight PSAC title in the shot put with a throw of 54-10 3/4.
Dart placed second with a throw of 54-0 to hit a NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Earlier in the season at the Susquehanna Open, Dart had a school record breaking a throw of 55-1.
Kutztown finished
with 2.5 team points, good for 39th place out of 41 teams that
scored points.
