The Kutztown University men's and women's outdoor track and field
teams will be competing at the Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference Championships beginning on Thursday at Biemesderfer
Stadium on the campus of Millersville University.
Tickets for Friday and Saturday are $7 per person per day. A two-day
pass can be purchased for $12. Admission is $2 for students and free
for PSAC students (with a valid ID from member school). Admission is
free to Thursday's multi events and the 10,000 meter run.
On
Friday, there will be preliminary races for every event except the
5,000, which will run its final at 5:30 p.m. for the women and 6
p.m. for the men.
In
the field, the finals for the men's and women's hammer, long jump
and shot put. The women's pole vault and men's high jump
finals also will take place on Friday.
The
finals for all the remaining track and field events are on Saturday.

The Kutztown University men’s and women’s outdoor track and field
teams will travel to Millersville University for the Pennsylvania
State Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships beginning May 7.
The events kick off at 11
a.m. Thursday with the first day of the men’s decathlon and women’s
heptathlon. On Friday, at 9:30 a.m. the final events of the
decathlon will take place and at 10:30 a.m. the final events of the
heptathlon.
The field events will
start on Friday at noon with men’s hammer throw and women’s long
jump. The track events will begin at 1:05 p.m. with the
preliminaries of the women’s 400-meter relay. The final day’s events
will start at 11 a.m. Saturday for the field events and on the track
at 12:30 p.m. with the women’s 400-meter relay.
Ashley Pinter (so. Bethlehem/Liberty)
enters the PSAC Championships ranked
second in both the shot put (40-5) and the hammer throw (159-8), and
ranks third in the discus (132-1). As a freshman last year, Pinter
won first place in the discus with a throw of 138-5. She finished
second in the shot put (42-4) and third in the hammer throw (153-4).
In the pole vault,
Rachel Weigle (jr. Red Lion/Red Lion)
is ranked second with her height of 11-2
1/4 at the All-American Invite in East Stroudsburg.
Melissa Fellenbaum (fr. Landisville/Hempfield) is ranked
fourth with a vault of 11-0 1/4, which she had at the PSAC East
Challenge.
On the track side,
Joanna Horstmann (sr. Downingtown/Downingtown West) will
look to improve on last year’s eighth-place finish in the 800-meter,
when she had a time of 2:15.18. She ranks third entering the
championships with her best time of 2:13.21 at the KU Last Chance
Invitational. Horstmann also comes in ranking fifth in the 1,500
(4:37.33) and sixth in the 3,000 (10:16.66).
In the 3,000 steeplechase,
Cristina Reimer (so. Chester Springs/Downingtown East)
ranks third (11:23.44), after finishing fifth last year with a time
of 11:36.1.
Kristin Cupido (so. Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan)
ranks eighth in the 10,000 with a time of 37:40.77, while
Lynn Lisofsky (so. Wilkes-Barre/James M. Coughlin) is
eighth in the 400 hurdles (1:04.84).
Katie Colburn (so. Hanover/South Western) placed fifth in
last year’s heptathlon with 4,086 points. She enters this season’s
heptathlon ranked sixth in the PSAC with 4,003 points from the Bison
Outdoor Classic.
On
the men’s side,
Cody Hartzler (sr. Belleville/Indian Valley)
is
the only Golden Bear to enter ranked first in the PSAC. He is in the
top spot for the high jump, clearing 6-8 3/4 at the All-American
Invitation.
Throwers
Chris Boutsikaris (sr. Newton/Newton) and
Jason Rebuck (jr. Southampton/William Tennent) also
will
compete for top spots in at the PSAC Championships. Boutsikaris
ranks second in the hammer throw with a distance of 186-5. Rebuck
ranks second in the discus (163-11), fifth in the hammer throw
(178-1) and sixth in the shot put (47-6 3/4).
Jack Iosue (fr. Manheim/Manheim Central) enters the
javelin in eighth place with a throw of 192-5 at the Paul Kaiser
Invitational.
In
the pole vault,
Justin Germani (so. Birdsboro/Daniel Boone) and
William Hodges (jr. Levittown/Neshaminy) rank fourth and
fifth, respectively. Germani’s best vault was 16-0 and Hodges’
cleared 15-7.
On the track side,
T.J. Longmore (jr. Lititz/Manheim Twp.) is second in the
110-meter high hurdles with a time of 14.73 at the All-American
Invitational. Also in the 110 hurdles is
Shane Harvey (so. Pattenburg, N.J./North Hunterdon), who
ranks sixth.
Kendel Dixon (jr. Atglen/Octorara) had a time of 48.58 at
the KU Last Chance Invitational in the 400, which is good enough to
rank him sixth.
The Golden Bears finished
in fourth place in each of the men’s and women’s standings at last
year’s PSAC tournament. The women placed fifth and the men placed
sixth at the 2008 PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
