KU Women place 3rd/26, Qualify for Nationals
Karaszkiewicz and Horstmann earn All-Region
Honors; Men finish 12th
LOCK HAVEN, PA- Julie
Karaszkiewicz and Joanna Horstmann earned all-region
honors while leading the women to a third place finish, with 105
points, at the NCAA East Regionals and qualify for the NCAA
Championships on Nov. 19 in Pomona, CA.
Karaszkiewicz finished in 11th with a time of 22:20
and was the first freshman to finish. Horstmann finished 15th overall
as she ran 22:34 in the 6K
race.
Chelsea Thomas finished in 17th
(22:41) and Desiree Bower came in 24th (22:54). Rounding out
the top seven for KU are Cheryl Dingman in 38th (23:14),
Stephanie Williams in 53rd (23:41 and
Erica Kabbeko in 106th (25:44).
Edinboro placed first in the women's
6k with 33 points and Indiana (PA) was second with 98 points to join
KU in going to the NCAA Championship. Bloomsburg was fourth with 113 points
and Mansfield was fifth with 191 points.
The KU men finished in 12th place
with 290 points. Pat Bone led KU, finishing in 23rd place with a time of
32:47 in the 10K race. Dan Wilde finished in
50th (33:51) and Dave Tidey finished 58th (34:06). Rounding out the
top runners for the men are Joe Haughey in 70th (34:33), Zach
Miller in
89th (35:21) and Pat McKeever in 93rd (35:37).
Edinboro came in first in the men's
10K run with 59 points. Lock Haven placed second with 69 points and
Shippensburg was third with 90 points.
