12-RANKED KU WOMEN VIE FOR CONFERENCE TITLE
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — The Kutztown University
women’s cross country team has worked all season for this moment —
to compete in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference
Championships.
After three first-place finishes during the regular season, KU will
travel to Lock Haven for the 2008 PSAC meet.
“The women have had their
sights set on the championship segment of the season since August,”
KU head coach Ray Hoffman. “We have had our most successful season
to date, but what matters most are these next two weeks.”
The Golden Bears are led by last season’s All-PSAC and All-Atlantic
Region runner
Joanna Horstmann
(sr. Downingtown/Downingtown West), who has two top
10 finishes this season. Horstmann has earned All-PSAC honors in the
last three years, placing 14th in 2007, seventh in 2006 and sixth in
2005.
Also running for the Golden Bears Saturday will be

meet.
“The conference this year is the most competitive I have ever seen,”
Hoffman said. “We have to be willing to put ourselves up front early
and accept the pain later in the race. It will be very exciting.”
The meet will begin at noon at Lock Haven University.
