HAMPTON, VA - Kutztown scored five runs
in the first two innings to defeat East Stroudsburg, 9-3, in its
first game at the Builder Invitational hosted by Newport Apprentice
School. Jeffrey Craig was 2-for-4 with three runs and
an RBI, while Mike McCardell was 2-for-4 with two runs and
two RBI. Kyle Costello was 3-for-3 with three runs
batted in, while Tony Riegel drove in a pair of runs.
Kyle Sadlowski was the winning pitcher, going six innings,
allowing three runs, one earned, with four strikeouts.
Justin Jachowicz hurled a scoreless seventh inning. Costello
had RBI singles in both of the first two innings. McCardell
drove in two runs with a double in the second.

HAMPTON, VA - Kutztown was held to three
hits in a 2-1 loss to the host Apprentice School Friday afternoon.
Ryan Loper tripled and scored on a single by Costello
in the second inning. Costello's hit proved to be the
last for KU in the game. The Builders tied the score in the
bottom of the second, then scored the winning run on a single in the
third. Marshall Mirarchi was the hard-luck losing
pitcher, allowing just four hits with three strikeouts in five
innings.

HAMPTON, VA - Ryan Loper capped a
five-run fourth with a two-run home run to help propel Kutztown to a
9-1 win over Lock Haven at the Builder Invitational. Kyle
Costello also homered, hitting a three-run shot in the top of
the first inning. Mike McCardell started on the mound
and pitched the first five innings to pick up the win. He
allowed just one hit and one walk, while striking out nine Bald
Eagles. Loper finished 2-5 at the plate.
Costello was 2-3 with four RBI. Jeff Craig went 2-5
at the plate, with a two-run single.

Matt Maradeo tossed a three-hit shutout as the Golden Bear
blanked Bloomsburg 3-0 at the Builder Invitational. He struck
out eight and walked three. Kutztown scored all three of its
runs in the first inning, despite getting only a single hit in the
frame. Kyle Costello drew a bases loaded walk to score
Jon Moyer. Ryan Loper and Mike McCardell
followed with sacrifice flies.

HAMPTON, VA - The
Golden Bears scored seven runs with two outs in the fourth to break
open a one-run game and cruised to a 13-2 win over Apprentice in the
championship game of the Builder Invitational. Jeff Craig
finished 2-4 with a triple, three runs scored and three RBI.
Ryan Loper had a three run triple in the fourth.
Scott Senna scored three runs. Matt Keller started
on the hill and got the win. He went five innings, allowing
one earned run on four hits and two walks, striking out five.
The win avenged a loss to the host Builders earlier in the
tournament. After the game, Craig, Mike McCardell
and Matt Maradeo were named to the All-Tournament team.
