KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY TO INDUCT SIX INTO
ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME OCT. 16
KUTZTOWN, PA (September 28, 2009) – Kutztown University will add
six new members into its Athletics Hall of Fame at the 2009 banquet
on Friday, Oct. 16.
This
year’s induction class includes Monique Bosley-Brooks, a
track-and-field school record holder in the 100-meter dash;
Denauld Brown ‘98, one of the most feared linemen in
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) history who went on to
win a championship with the Frankfurt Galaxy of the World Football
League; Steven Fitch ‘00, former PSAC baseball player of the
year who was drafted by the Cleveland Indians; Lock Jennings ’93,
the second-leading scorer in men’s basketball history; Bob
Muschlitz ‘65, who started every football game during his KU
career and Angie Rideout ’00, a two-sport standout in
volleyball and track, who holds the KU record in solo blocks.
The six
new inductees increase the membership to 161 since the Hall of Fame
was formed in 1977. The KU Hall of Fame Banquet will be held in the
Multi-Purpose Room of the McFarland Student Union, on the Kutztown
University Campus at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16. Reservations for
the banquet can be made at the KU Athletic Advancement Office for

The
ceremony will be held in conjunction with the school’s Homecoming
Weekend. In addition to Friday’s induction banquet, the Hall of
Famers will be introduced at halftime of the Golden Bears’ football
game against East Stroudsburg on Saturday, Oct. 17. Kickoff is at
1:05 p.m.
MONIQUE
BOSLEY-BROOKS (TRACK AND FIELD)
Monique
Bosley-Brooks competed in women’s track and field from 1981 to 1983.
One of the most decorated track and field athletes in KU history,
Bosley holds the school record in the 100-meter dash (12.24
seconds), 26 years after setting. Bosley made an immediate impact
during her freshman year being named all-Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference (PSAC) in the 100 and 200-meter dashes. She was the PSAC
Champion and record holder in the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Bosley
also qualified for the AIAW Division III Championships in the 100
and 200-meter dashes. After taking a year off in 1982, Bosley
returned to the track in her junior year and was named to the
all-East Region in the 200-meter dash and all-PSAC team in the 100
and 200-meter dashes. In addition, Bosley anchored the 4 x 100-meter
relay to a second place finish and the 4 x 400-meter relay team to a
third place finish at the PSAC Championships. Bosley graduated from
Temple University with a degree in early childhood and elementary
education. She received her master’s degree in Administration from
Temple University. Bosley is married with three children. She
currently works as a Small Learning Community Coordinator within the
Philadelphia School District and The Philadelphia Academies Inc.
DENAULD BROWN (FOOTBALL)
Denauld
Brown was a member of the football team from 1994 to 1997. Brown was
an American Football Coaches Association All-American defensive
tackle at Kutztown. He was awarded the Dennis Roth Academic
Scholarship and the Presidential Award for Academic Progress, and
graduated in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. He earned
his master’s in public administration from Kutztown in 2001. Brown
signed as a free agent with the Washington Redskins. He also was
selected 18th in the NFL Europe draft by the Frankfurt Galaxy, and
played defensive tackle for Frankfurt’s 1999 World Bowl champion
team. He returned to the United States in 1999 as a free agent
defensive tackle with the Seattle Seahawks. He served as defensive
line coach at Blinn College, of Brenham, Texas, which won the 2006
junior college national championship when it defeated Pearl River
Community College, 19-6, in the JuCo national championship game. It
capped a 12-0 season for Blinn, the nation’s top-ranked junior
college. Brown coached at Blinn under the Buccaneers’ head coach and
defensive coordinator, Brad Franchione, the son of Texas A&M head
coach Dennis Franchione. Brown joined the Blinn staff shortly after
completing his fourth season as a defensive line coach in NFL
Europe. He coached the Barcelona Dragons in Spain in 2003, the
Scottish Claymores in Scotland in 2004 and the Hamburg Sea Devils in
Germany in both 2005 and 2006. He had begun coaching at his alma
mater, Kutztown (Pa.) University, where he was a graduate assistant
coach from 1999 to 2001. He was a graduate assistant at the
University of Connecticut from 2001 to 2003. Brown was an all-state,
All-Southeast Pennsylvania defensive lineman at Henderson High
School in West Chester, Pa. He and his wife, Anne, live near the
Columbia campus, with their daughter Neah, who was born in December
2006.
STEVEN
FITCH (BASEBALL)
Steven
Fitch was a member of the baseball team from 1997-2000. He holds the
Kutztown career records in games appeared (75), career wins (tied
with 29), and complete games (19). Fitch is also third all-time in
saves. Following his senior year, Fitch, the team captain, was named
PSAC Player of the Year, first team all-region, KU Senior Male
Athlete of the Year and team MVP. As a junior, Fitch was a first
team all-PSAC selection and he helped KU win the PSAC East Division
and the PSAC title. He was second team all-region. During his
freshman year, he was named the KU Rookie of the Year and selected
to the all-PSAC second team after setting a season record for saves
with seven. KU won the PSAC East Division. Fitch was drafted in the
34th round by the Cleveland Indians in 2000. He spent
time in the Indians and Pirates organization. Fitch earned his
degree in Education. Fitch is married to Shannon and the couple has
two daughters.

JENNINGS (MEN’S BASKETBALL)
Lock
Jennings was a member of the men’s basketball team from 1989-1993. A
four-year starter, Jennings graduated from Kutztown as its all-time
leading scorer. He is currently second on the school’s all-time
scoring list with 1,682 points and 628 field goals. He has the
third-highest career free-throw shooting percentage in school
history (83.0). Jennings also ranks in the KU Top 10 in career
assists (254), steals (158) and free throws (281). Jennings was the PSAC East Freshman of the Year.
Following his sophomore and senior seasons, Jennings was selected to
the first team all-PSAC East. He was a second team all-PSAC
selection following his junior year. A team captain and team MVP,
Jennings was named a Division II pre-season All-American. Jennings,
currently living in Boca Raton, Fla., received his degree in
secondary education and social science in 1993.
He currently owns Jennings Enterprises Inc., a
relocation advertising firm, and Smart Financial Solutions, a
financial services company.
ROBERT
MUSCHLITZ (FOOTBALL)
Robert
Muschlitz was a member of the football team from 1961-64. Nicknamed
“Bethlehem Bobby”, Muschlitz played every game of his collegiate
career as a fullback and a halfback. Muschlitz was named MVP of the
Homecoming football game as a freshman. He was the team MVP
following his sophomore, junior and senior years. One of the
“Touchdown Twins” during his time at KU, Muschlitz led the team in
rushing from 1962-64. He was selected as the starting fullback in
the Gem Bowl, a small-college all-star game for players from
Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York. In addition to playing football,
Muschlitz, was a member of the “Statesmen”, the KSC Dance Band,
Resident Men’s Association and the Freshman Customs Committee.
Muschlitz served as the head football coach at Solanco and was an
assistant coach at Franklin & Marshall College,
which won a fourth consecutive
Middle Atlantic Conference Southern Division Championship. Following his
graduation from Kutztown, Muschlitz taught special education classes
at Solanco High School and he developed an intergenerational program
for “at risk” students. His “Generations Together” program was
highly regarded and was awarded the Pennsylvania state “Service
Learning Award” for the Solanco School District. He won
the Employee of the Year Award from the Solanco School District for
the 1997-98 school year. Muschlitz, who
received his degree in elementary education and special education,
is married with two children. He
earned his masters degree from Temple U in 1977.
He is a retired educator and coach.
He currently works for Eschbach Bus service where he drives for high
school sports teams and school-sponsored field trips.
ANGIE
RIDEOUT (VOLLEYBALL & TRACK)
A
two-sport standout, Rideout was a member of the volleyball team from
1996-1999 and the track and field team from 1997-98. Rideout
finished her career as the all-time leader in kills (1,016) and
blocks (477). Her 241 solo blocks is still a school standard. She is
presently fourth all-time in kills and second in blocks. Rideout was
a two-time all-PSAC East selection. During her junior year, Rideout
led Kutztown to the PSAC Final Four for the first time since 1984.
Following her sophomore year, Rideout was named second-team all-PSAC
East after leading the conference in blocks per game (1.18). Rideout
set school records in total blocks (176) and solo blocks (101),
which still stand. She tied the school record for blocks in a game
with 14 and was named to the second team all-PSAC. On the track,
Rideout helped KU win the PSAC outdoor title (1997) while claiming
the PSAC Championship in the triple jump and placed second in the
high jump. During the year, Rideout tied the school record in the
indoor high jump. She was third in the high and triple jumps at the
ECAC Championships. The following year, Rideout was fifth in the
triple jump at the PSAC Championships. She also placed in three
events at the ECAC meet (third in pentathlon, second in high jump
and fourth in triple jump). Rideout is currently working as a Senior
Manager for Client Services at Best Vendors Management. Rideout
earned her bachelor of science degree in telecommunication from
Kutztown in 2000.
