9/2 -
Shane Martin,
of the football team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore Athlete of
the Week. Martin completed 20 of 23 passes in his 2008 debut for 240
yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 21 yards and a score.
9/8 -
Anne Waapu,
of the field hockey team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore
Athlete of the Week. Waapu scored five goals and had two assists as
the Golden Bears won three games last week. Her four goals and two
assists helped the Golden Bears claim the Joshua W. Wesner Memorial
Tournament title. She also had a goal in KU’s loss to East
Stroudsburg.
9/15 - Kelley Healey,
of the field hockey team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore
Athlete of the Week. Healey scored two goals and tallied four
assists as KU went 3-0 last week. Her four assists gave her 33 for
her career, breaking the school record of 32 by Justine Baer
(1998-2001).

Raven Chiara,
of the women’s soccer team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore
Athlete of the Week. Chiara scored the only goal for the Golden
Bears in a 1-0 win over PSAC East foe Millersville and the first
goal in a 3-2 win at Lock Haven. The two goals have helped the
Golden Bears win three straight games, two in the PSAC East.

Chelsea Bressler,
of the women’s soccer team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore
Athlete of the Week. Bressler scored three goals and had an assist
in two Golden Bear wins last week, extending the team’s winning
streak to five games. In a PSAC East contest against Mansfield,
Bressler had two goals, including the game-winner. Against David &
Elkins, she had a goal and an assist on the game-winner in double
overtime.

Lukas Labitsch,
of the men’s tennis team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore
Athlete of the Week. Labitsch won the ITA Regionals A-Singles and
A-Doubles tournaments at Bloomsburg University. Labitsch, who teamed
with Arpit Sharma to win the doubles title, will compete at
nationals in both the singles and doubles tournament.

Dontay
Wilson, of the
football team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore Athlete of the
Week. Wilson ran for 143 yards and two scores, including a 73-yard
touchdown run, in a 42-21 win over Shippensburg at University Field.
10/20 -
Kelli Pry,
of the women’s golf team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore
Athlete of the Week. Pry finished tied for fourth at the PSAC
Championships with a two-day total of 155 — a 36-hole KU record on a
par-72 course. She finished with scores of 76 and 79. She earned
All-PSAC honors.

Maurice Adams
and
Dontay Wilson,
of the football team, are this week’s KU Student Bookstore
Co-Athletes of the Week. The two running backs combined for 174
yards and two TDs in KU’s 26-17 win Saturday. Each had long runs for
31 yards. Adams finished with 88 yards on 14 carries and Wilson had
86 on 15 carries.

Joanna Horstmann,
of the women’s cross country team, are this week’s KU Student
Bookstore Co-Athletes of the Week. Horstmann placed 14th at the PSAC
Championship meet to earn the fourth All-PSAC honor in her career.
Horstmann’s All-PSAC finish this season helped KU place third as a
team. She completed the race in 22:12.

Joanna Horstmann, of the women’s cross country
team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore Athlete of the Week. Horstmann
placed fifth at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regionals meet in a
22:08 to earn a trip to the NCAA Division II Championships on Nov.
22. Horstmann became the first KU cross country runner to earn
All-Region honors in all four years.
11/17 - Melissa McQuade, of the women’s basketball team,
is this week’s KU Student Bookstore Athlete of the Week. McQuade posted
back-to-back double-doubles as KU went 2-0 at the Golden Bear Classic
Saturday and Sunday. McQuade had 16 points and 10 rebounds in the Golden
Bears’ opener and followed that up with a career-high 30 points in a win
over Pitt-Johnstown. She also had 14 rebounds and went a career-best
10-for-10 from the free-throw line in that game. She recorded nine assists
in the two games.

Stephen
Dennis, of the men’s
basketball team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore Athlete of the Week.
Dennis averaged 25.5 points in KU’s first two games of the season. He shot
19-of-28 from the field (67.9 percent), including 3-for-3 beyond the arc. He
was 10-for-10 from the free-throw line. He also had seven assists, eight
steals and two blocks.
12/1 -
Joe Kemmerer,
of the wrestling team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore Athlete of the
Week. Kemmerer improved his season record at 133 pounds to 9-0 with two pins
Saturday in dual meets against Delaware Valley and Elizabethtown. Kemmerer
first two pins of the season included a win over the No. 4-ranked wrestler
at 125 pounds in Division III, Chris Sheetz, who like Kemmerer, won his
respective bracket at the East Stroudsburg Open earlier this season.
12/8 - Joe Kemmerer,
of the wrestling team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore Athlete of the
Week. Kemmerer improved 14-0, while winning the PSAC Championship at 133
pounds. His 2-1 win over the two-time defending champion, Rick Duebel. He is
the first PSAC Champion at KU since 1942. Kemmerer allowed his first point
of the season in the final and has won 25 straight bouts dating back to the
start of his Division II NCAA title run in 2006-07.
12/22 -
Dave Ben,
of the men’s basketball team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore Athlete of
the Week. Ben helped the Golden Bears improved to 8-0 on the season with 32
points against District of Columbia and another 20 points in a 68-60 win
over Philadelphia University. Ben is averaging 21.6 points and 5.3 rebounds
per game. He also is averaging 5.3 assists a game and is shooting 52.9
percent (64-of-121) from the floor.

Melissa McQuade,
of the women’s basketball team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore Athlete
of the Week. McQuade led the Golden Bears to a 2-1 record, averaging 15
points a game, with 23 rebounds and 10 assists. She scored 21 in KU’s win
over Chestnut Hill and another 20 in a PSAC crossover win at Clarion.

Ryan Washington,
of the men’s basketball team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore Athlete of
the Week. Washington averaged 22 points and 15 rebounds over two games,
recording double-doubles in wins against Edinboro and Lock Haven. Washington
keyed a crucial 16-3 run in a 13-point comeback KU needed to beat Edinboro.
He had a career-high 26 points in that win. He also had seven assists.
1/20 - Brett Martinez, of the wrestling team, is
this week’s KU Student Bookstore Athlete of the Week. Martinez helped the
Golden Bears defeat the No. 16-ranked West Liberty State Hilltoppers with a
pin of the No. 8-ranked wrestler in Division II at 149 pounds.

Dave Ben,
of the men’s basketball team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore Athlete of
the Week. Ben averaged 21 points in two games, while surpassing Lock
Jennings (1989-93) to take sole possession of the KU career scoring title.
Ben now has 1,704 points.
2/2 -
Dave Ben,
of the men’s basketball team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore Athlete
of the Week. Ben scored 67 points in two games, posting a career-high 36
points in KU’s 97-71 win over West Chester. He hit a school record eight
3-pointers against West Chester, and had a total of 11 3s for the week. He
had seven assists against West Chester and five steals against Bloomsburg.

Joanna Horstmann,
of the women’s indoor track and field team, is this week’s KU Student
Bookstore Athlete of the Week. Horstmann collected a first-place finish in
the 1,000-meter run at the DeSchriver Invite. Her time of 2:59.80 set a new
school record in the event.

Dave Ben,
of the men’s basketball team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore Athlete of
the Week. Ben had 24 points in a comeback win at Mansfield and scored
another 20 in the Golden Bears’ ninth straight PSAC East win Saturday, a
77-61 victory at Millersville.

Jeppesen, of the women’s
swimming team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore Athlete of the Week.
Jeppesen set four school records

three individual

at the 2009 PSAC Championships. She finished second in both the 200-yard
breaststroke (2:17.19) and 200 IM (2:07.51), and third in the 100
breaststroke (1:04.30). All three were NCAA A-Cut times. She also was a
member of the school record-breaking 800 freestyle team.

Melissa McQuade,
of the women’s basketball team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore Athlete
of the Week. McQuade helped KU seal up the No. 3 seed in the PSAC playoffs,
averaging 21.5 points and 15.0 rebounds in two games. McQuade set the new
single-season rebound record with her career-high 19 against Cheyney
Wednesday. She also matched her career high in points with 30 in that game.
She now has 270 boards on the season, 19 better than the previous record.

Stephen Dennis,
of the men’s basketball team, is this week’s KU Student Bookstore
Athlete of the Week. Dennis scored 98 points in the PSAC playoffs.
In the semifinal win over Slippery Rock, Dennis scored 28 of his
career-high 32 points in the first half. Dennis now leads the PSAC
in scoring, averaging 21.7 per game.
