SHIPPENSBURG, PA - A walk-off homer
by IUP's Jodie Swavely with one out in the seventh broke a 3-3 tie
and sent KU to the loser's bracket with a 4-3 loss.
The Golden Bears had tied it in the
top half of the inning after a clutch two-out single by Dani
Spalik that scored Sam Flowers from second
base.
Indiana (PA) took a 1-0 lead in the
second before KU scored a pair of runs in the top of the
third. Tarin Horonzy executed a suicide squeeze to
score Adriane Willmer and a Lindsay Bennett sacrifice
fly plated Jackie Messina.
The Indians fired back with a two-run
fourth inning highlighted by a two out, double by Amanda
Klingensmith that scored both runs.
Rachel Weidensaul took the
loss for KU, falling to 9-9. She allowed all four runs in 6.1
innings, only two of which were earned and struck out
three.
Willmer was 2-for-4 to lead
the Golden Bears.
Swavely (7-4) also pitched for IUP
and held Kutztown to just five hits, allowing three earned
runs.
Kutztown will return to action Friday
morning at 10:00 AM. The Golden Bears will square off against
the loser of Thursday afternoon's contest between Lock Haven and
Bloomsburg.

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.---Shona Guevara
pitched a four-hit shutout to lead Lock Haven to an 8-0 victory over
Kutztown in game five of the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Region
Tournament.
Lock Haven took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. An RBI double and a
single, plus an error put the Bald Eagles ahead.
In the second inning, a bases-loaded double broke the game open. LHU
also had an RBI single in the inning to put the Lock Haven advantage
at 6-0.
Lock Haven added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings for
an 8-0 score.
For Kutztown, Lindsey Bennett
went 2-for-2 with a single and a double. Adriane Willmer
and Erin Livingston each had a hit. Inside the circle,
Cheryl Griffith went one inning and gave up six runs. She
gets the loss to go to 8-7 for the year. Rachel Weidensaul
went five innings in relief and had three strikeouts.
Kutztown ends its season at 27-24.
