Kutztown scored six runs in its final two at bats to defeat
California (PA) in game one of the Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference (PSAC) Championships, 7-3. Kutztown took a 1-0 lead in
the second when Jackie Messina knocked in Lindsay Bennett
on a sacrifice. In the fifth inning, Ashley Fitzgerald hit a
two-run single to score Adriane Willmer and Kim
Morrison. With two outs in the sixth inning, the Golden Bears
put together five straight hits for three runs. Stacey Denlinger
(11-5) pitched 5.2 innings, striking out three and giving up two
unearned runs. Rachel Weidensaul came in with one out in the
sixth and pitched the remainder of the game for her first save. Morrison
was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Bennett and Krista
Cameron were both 3-for-4 with a double and RBI.

Rachel Weidensaul (19-4) pitched a complete game shut-out as KU
defeated Bloomsburg, 3-0, in game three of the PSAC playoffs.
Krista Cameron put KU on the board in the second inning with a
solo home run. Caitlin Hague hit a pinch-hit double to knock
in Kutztowns two other runs in the fourth. Adriane Willmer
was 2-for-3 in the game.

Lock Haven scored
four runs in the second inning to give KU its first loss of the PSAC
playoffs, 5-1. Stephanie Denlinger scored KU's only run
in the fourth after Krista Cameron reached on an error
by Lock Haven's shortstop. Denlinger (2-7) started to
game for the Golden Bears, pitching 1.1 innings, giving up three
runs. Rachel Weidensaul pitched the remaining of the
game, striking out three. Adriane Willmer was 2-for-4.
Ashley Fitzgerald went 2-for-3.
Kutztown will
face the winner of the California (PA)/Shippensburg game tomorrow,
Saturday, at 11:00 AM.

Shippensburg 1,
Kutztown 0 - Shippensburg's Kelly Nelson hit a walk-off home run and
Danielle Shields tossed a perfect game to lead off the bottom of the
seventh inning as the Lady Raiders eliminated Kutztown from the
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Softball Championship.
Shippensburg's
Danielle Shields faced the minimum 21 batters over seven innings,
striking out 10. KU's Stacey Denlinger struck out five and
allowed just three hits.
KU falls to 32-17
with the loss and finishes third in the six-team tournament.
