LOCK HAVEN ENDS KUTZTOWN'S SEASON IN
SEMIFINALS

LOCK HAVEN, PA - Lock Haven University brought an end to
Kutztown University's season with a 3-1 win in a semifinal of
the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional women's volleyball
tournament Friday night.
LHU won the first two games by identical 30-24 scores. KU
stormed back with a 30-16 victory in game three. The Lady
Eagles, however, came from behind to win game four, 30-27, to secure
the victory.
Dani Witherite had 19 kills and 11 digs to lead Kutztown.
Erin Waters added 12 kills and seven blocks. Sarah Brandon
recorded 10 kills and seven blocks. Austin Kinney dished out
45 assists and had 12 digs. Nicole Biuso notched 10 digs and
Shelby Bunting had eight blocks.
KU's season comes to a close with a 24-8 record. Brandon,
Witherite Bunting and fellow senior Krystalee George wrap up stellar
careers for John Gump's Golden Bears.

BRANDON LEADS KU OVER CLARION

LOCK HAVEN, PA - Sarah Brandon had 18 kills to
lead Kutztown to a 3-0 win over Clarion in an NCAA Division II
Atlantic Regional quarterfinal at Lock Haven University.
Game scores were 30-22, 32-30, 30-15. KU
advances to Friday's semifinal, vs. the winner of Thursday's last
quarterfinal between Lock Haven and North Carolina Central. That
semifinal begins at 7:30 PM Friday.
Brandon was one of three players in double
digits in kills for KU. Dani Witherite had 12 and Erin Waters
added 11. Nicole Biuso notched 12 digs and Austin Kinney added
43 assists and 10 digs.
After cruising to victory in game one, the
Bears had to survive a close game two. The Golden Eagles had
three game points, but Waters denied the first two with kills.
After CU took a 30-29 lead, Witherite stepped up with a kill to knot
it at 30. After a CU error, Witherite capped the comeback with
a kill. KU was never threatened in game three.
KU improves to 24-7 on the season with the
victory.
In Thursday's other quarterfinals, Slippery
Rock blanked IUP, 3-0, an California snuck past Lees-McRae, 3-2.
