Game 1

KUTZTOWN, PA - NJIT used a stifling defense to outlast East
Stroudsburg, 66-55, in the first game of the KU Classic.
Kelly Crowe scored a game-high 22 points
and four steals to lead the Highlanders. Jackie Lupo came off
the bench for double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Selena Kershaw had 14 points.
ESU also had three players in double
figures. Maryellen Onofre scored 15 points, from 4-of-7 on
threes, to lead the Warriors. Niki Cox notched 11 points and
Jasmine Gittens added 10. Monika Fogelsanger led the team with
eight boards.
NJIT built its lead to as large as 14
points with 17:00 to play in the contest, before the Warriors
mounted a comeback. ESU went on a 19-5 run to tie the game at
49-49, but could not take the lead. The Highlanders answered
back with a game-sealing 17-6 spurt over the final 9:35.
The Highlanders held the Warriors to
just 28 percent shooting in the contest. ESU launched 27
three-pointers, connecting on just nine.
Game 2

KUTZTOWN, PA - Kutztown erased a 10-point deficit in the final
4:30 of regulation, but Salem International came away with an 82-78
overtime victory in the second game of the KU Classic. Golden
Bears' freshman Katie Harlor made a three-pointer - her only field
goal of the game - with two seconds left to send the teams to
overtime.
SIU reserve guard Michaela Jezdikova led
all players with 21 points. She shot 5-of-8 from beyond the
arc and made all six of her free throws. Kristen Self added 19
points, while Keisha Box turned in a double-double with 16 points
and 10 rebounds. Kim Scheer scored 13 points on 5-of-7
shooting.
For Kutztown, Monique Boykins and Mercedes Van
Wagner each had double-doubles as KU controlled the paint.
Boykins had 19 points and 12 boards, while Van Wagner added 16
points and 12 rebounds. Point guard Megan Bainbridge also had
a double-double, with 11 points and 10 assists. Rachel
Weidensaul chipped in with 10 points, while Trish Dudeck came off
the bench for eight boards.
The Golden Bears built an 18-6 lead in
the first nine minutes, thanks to six points from Van Wagner.
Kutztown held off a surge by SIU for a 34-28 halftime lead.
Cali Pate scored all six of her points
in the first 1:14 of the second half to tie the game at 34-34.
The Lady Tigers then built their lead to 67-57 at the 4:30 mark
after free throws by Jezdikova. Dudeck and Weidensaul each
scored four points as KU cut the lead to 68-65 with 50 seconds left.
Harlor was fouled with 17 seconds left and missed a free throw to give the Golden
Bears a chance at the win. Kutztown had several chances,
followed by offensive rebounds, before Harlor hit an open shot from
the wing for the tie.
SIU hit 9-of-11 free throws in overtime
to seal the contest and take the 82-78 win. For the game, the
Lady Tigers converted 21-of-25 from the line for 84 percent.
Kutztown outshot SIU 44 percent to 38 percent, and dominated the
boards 55 to 36. The Golden Bears were undone, however, by 21
turnovers.
Game 3

KUTZTOWN, PA - Keisha Box had 18 points and 13 rebounds as the
Lady Tigers defeated East Stroudsburg, 62-56, at the KU Classic.
Cali Pate joined Box in double figures
for Salem International, with 15 points. Pate hit 5-of-11 from
three-point range.
Maryellen Onofre led the Warriors with
17 points on 5-of-11 shooting. Amy Jones had 12 points and 13
rebounds off the bench, while Niki Cox matched her with 12 points,
as well.
East Stroudsburg led 37-31 at the half,
behind all 12 of Cox's points. In the second half, Box scored
seven straight points for SIU, as the Lady Tigers grabbed a 40-39
lead with 14:37 left. The Warriors reclaimed the advantage,
before back-to-back buckets by SIU's Ashley Hammersly at the 6:57
mark. That gave Salem a 53-51 lead and the Lady Tigers never
trailed again.
ESU went cold in the second half,
hitting just 6-of-22 shots, and finished at 37 percent for the game
(19-of-52).
Game 4

KUTZTOWN, PA - Jackie Daley made a layup with one second left in
overtime to lift the Golden Bears to a 69-68 win over New Jersey
Tech at the KU Classic.
Rachel Weidensaul led KU with 15 points
in the win, while Trish Dudeck added 11 points and eight boards.
Mercedes Van Wagner had seven rebounds.
Kelly Crowe had a game-high 22 points in
the loss for the Highlanders on 6-of-12 shooting. Aine O'Dwyer
grabbed 10 rebounds to go with her 16 points. Jackie Lupo
chipped in with 11 points.
The Golden Bears shot 53 percent from
the floor (21-of-40). They shot 62 percent in the second half,
as Kutztown erased an 11-point NJIT lead. KU
battled back to tie the game at 52-52 on a pair of Megan Bainbridge
free throws. Kutztown led 59-58 with 41 seconds left in
regulation when the Highlanders' Jackie McCaffrey hit one of two
free throw to send the game to overtime.
In the overtime, O'Dwyer gave NJIT a
67-63 advantage with 2:05 left. Daley, who scored five of her
seven points in the overtime, tied the contest a 67-67 with a pair of
free throws with just 22 seconds left. On the ensuing
Highlander possession, Erica Velez was fouled and hit one of two for
a one-point lead with nine seconds to play. After a timeout,
KU had an inbounds play along the baseline. Brooke Martin sent
a bounce pass to the open Daley who hit the layup for the win.
Kutztown held NJIT to just 36 percent
shooting (21-of-58) and 53 percent from the foul line (21-of-40).
The Highlanders stayed in the game with a defense that forced KU
into 30 turnovers.
