COMPLETE BOX SCORE

KUTZTOWN, PA - Cheyenne Brunner (so. Sunbury/Shikellamy) scored the lone goal of the contest as Kutztown defeated Shippensburg Tuesday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Quarterfinal contest at Keystone Field.

Cheyenne Brunner led KU to a PSAC quarterfinal win over Shippensburg

The Golden Bears (10-7-3) advance to Friday's PSAC Semifinal at West Chester, starting at 1:00 PM.

The two teams traded scoring chances in the first half on the windy, cold afternoon.  Each team had shots hit the crossbar as the wind adjusted shots in mid-flight.  Shippensburg also missed an open net, as the ball flew over the crossbar.

Brunner scored the only goal of the afternoon off a corner kick from Diana Hopper (fr. New York, NY/Ramapo (NJ)) at the 70:30 mark.

With five minutes left in the game, Gayle Kuntzmann had a breakaway for the Lady Raiders.  She beat KU goalie Nicole Rodweller (sr. Easton/Easton) and had an empty net, but her shot went just wide of the goal.

Kutztown had nine shots in the contest and eight corner kicks.  Shippensburg managed six shots and three corner kicks.

Rodweller made six saves in goal for KU.  The Golden Bear defense was led by Shelby Varone (sr. Bernville/Tulpehocken) and Becky Worley (jr. Downingtown/Downingtown West).

Bethany Long had eight saves for the Lady Raiders (9-9-2).
