BOXSCORE
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — The Kutztown
University women’s soccer team couldn’t find the game-winner needed
to earn a postseason berth, tying Bloomsburg 2-2 in double overtime
Tuesday.
Raven Chiara (so. Jamesburg,
N.J./Monroe Twp.) tied the game at 2 with 6:22 left to force
overtime in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East contest,
but the game-winner eluded KU (9-5-3, 4-5-2 PSAC East). KU needed a
win to remain alive in the playoff hunt.
Kim
Kelty (sr. Levittown/Neshaminy) recorded her 11th assist of the
season on Chiara’s goal, setting the new KU record for assists in a
single season (Tanya Woods, 1992).
KU opened the scoring with a goal from
Kelly Bushe (fr. Neptune City, N.J./Neptune) off a corner
kick by Diana Hopper (so. New York, NY/Ramapo) in the 7th
minute.
Bloomsburg (7-5-3, 5-3-3 PSAC East) tied
it in the first half with a goal from Kelsey Stoka at the 19:34
mark, and she scored again at the 60:52 mark to forge a 2-1 lead.
The Golden Bears had an opportunity late
in the second overtime when Julie Folsom (sr. Wanaque,
N.J./Lakeland) broke free on goal but Bloomsburg keeper Brittany
Moses made the save to preserve the tie.
Stefanie Bonsky (fr. Manahawkin,
N.J./Southern Regional) made three saves for the Golden Bears
while playing all 110 minutes in net.
KU will return home for its final home game
of 2007 at Keystone Field at noon Saturday against Edinboro when the
Golden Bear seniors will be recognized.
