2. Titles for Freshman Seminar Course
- The committee discussed various titles for a freshman seminar course that would best reflect the intention of the course. Among various titles suggested was Introduction to General Education.
- This topic will be discussed by the committee at a later time and Dr. Lynch asked committee members to continue thinking of appropriate titles for the course.
3. Model
- A working draft of a model was distributed to committee members. Dr. Lynch indicated that this draft was devised merely as a starting point for committee deliberations.
- It was noted that it will be necessary for the committee to show how a new model will work for all majors. There was a suggestion that a checksheet be prepared for each major showing how a new model will fit into it.
- There was discussion about the possibility of having a second communication course that pertains to the major.
4. Other
- It was reported that there is concern on campus that reference to healthy lifestyles is not included in the draft version of the goals. It was pointed out that healthy lifestyles actually relates to three of the goals, Critial Thinking, Ethical Issues and Responsibilities, and Attitudes for Success.
