Pandemic Influenza Assessment Team (PIAT)

The PIAT (Pandemic Influenza Assessment Team) includes representatives from University Health Services, Environmental Health & Safety, Public Safety & Police Services, and Housing & Residential Services.  The team will be actively engaged in implementing the Pandemic Influenza Response Plan.  The team goals are:

  • To coordinate division/departmental response plans;
  • To conduct a campus assessment relating to pandemic preparedness;
  • To track preparedness tasks and accomplishments;
  • To serve as a resource for other campus departments;
  • To identify essential functions and personnel campus-wide;
  • To communicate with other universities, the CDC, local agencies, and the PA Department of Health regarding preparedness activities and pandemic status;
  • To conduct a focused campus-wide educational campaign (hand washing, seasonal flu vaccines, self-protection, individual preparedness);
  • To maintain a current campus Web site; and
  • To integrate the pandemic influenza response plan into the overall University emergency plan.

In addition to the team goals, the Pandemic Influenza Assessment Team can provide assistance to divisions, departments and units in completing your Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP).
