Bloomsburg 3, Kutztown 2 (OT)
BOXSCORE
KUTZTOWN, Pa. —
Greg Parker (fr. West Grove/Avon Grove) scored two goals for
the Kutztown University men’s soccer team, but Bloomsburg University
rallied to tie and win 3-2 in overtime Saturday at Keystone Field.
The Golden Bears (1-5-0,
1-3-0 PSAC East) scored in the second minute of the Pennsylvania
State Athletic Conference East game, and made it 2-1 at the 54:08
mark; however Bloomsburg’s Mike Jones tied the game at 2-2 with less
than seven minutes left in regulation to force overtime.
In the extra frame, Kevin
Mealy headed a cross from Tim Pfender in the 97th minute for the
Bloomsburg (3-0-3, 1-0-1 PSAC East) win.
Parker’s first goal came on a breakaway where he beat the keeper to
the ball and chipped it over his head and into the goal. His second
tally was on a nicely set up play, as
Rusty Chapel (jr. Topton/Brandywine) battled his way down
the right sideline, sent a cross into the box and Parker redirected
it with his head.
Christian Rota had the other goal for Bloomsburg, scoring in the
27th minute to knot the game at 1.
KU was outshot 21-11 and
Shawn Knash (so. Honesdale/Honesdale) made eight saves for
the Golden Bears.
KU
will travel to Millersville for a 7:30 p.m. PSAC East contest on
Wednesday.
