Columbia Union 2, Kutztown 1 (OT)
BOXSCORE

KUTZTOWN, Pa. — The Kutztown University men’s soccer team fell 2-1 in overtime against Columbia Union College in a non-conference game Wednesday at Keystone Field.

The Pioneers scored the game-winner in the 97th minute on a penalty kick by Gary Saint-Fleur, who was taken down in the box with a clear path on goal.

It was the second penalty kick of the game as Bill Frosoni (sr. North Plainfield, N.J./North Plainfield) scored the Golden Bears’ only goal after he was taken down by the Pioneers’ keeper in the box. The goal tied the game at 1-1 in the 57th minute.

Columbia Union took the 1-0 lead in the 8th minute on a broken defensive play by KU. Vernon Lambe took a pass from Augustine Vandy and scored easily on an open net.

KU (2-10-0) outshot Columbia Union (8-5) 23-8 and held the advantage in corners 9-1; however, the Golden Bears couldn’t get past keeper Jonathan Uribe, who made 13 saves for the Pioneers.

KU will return to the field at 4 p.m. Tuesday for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East contest against Shippensburg at Keystone Field.
