— The Kutztown University men's soccer team opened up its 2008
season with a 4-2 loss against Concordia College (N.Y.) at the Nyack
College Tournament in Nyack, N.Y., Thursday.
Bill Frosoni
(sr. North Plainfield, N.J./North Plainfield) and
Greg Parker
(fr. West Grove/Avon Grove) each had goals for the Golden Bears
(0-1), with Frosoni's tally in the 38th minute tying the game at 2,
but Concordia (1-0) used two late goals to pull away.
Concordia's Stefan
Dimitrov scored the second of his two goals to break the tie in the
72nd minute on a penalty kick.
Daniel Espinoza
added an unassisted tally at the 83:57 mark to make it 4-2.
Concordia opened up
the scoring in the third minute when Samuel Ortega took a cross from
Richard Heredia and scored from 10 yards out.
Heredia assisted on
Dimitrov's first goal, which came at the 23:40 mark, making it 2-0.
Parker scored six
minutes later, heading a pass from
Rusty Chapel (jr.
Topton/Brandywine) to the lower-left side of the goal.
The Golden Bears
will return to the field for a 3:30 p.m. contest Saturday against
the tournament host, Nyack.
