BOXSCORE

KUTZTOWN, Pa. The Kutztown University men's soccer team tied 2-2 after two overtimes with Shippensburg University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East contest Tuesday at Keystone Field.

The Raiders took an early lead, when Austin Alfonsi took a pass from Miles Peek and snuck it in past the goalkeeper at the 12:35 mark.

Rusty Chapel (jr. Topton/Brandywine Heights) was inches from scoring, but his shot bounced off the crossbar and deflected to James Robinson (so. Chester, ENGLAND), who was there to knock in the rebound to tie the game at 1-1.

At the 28:22 mark, Robinson scored again, this time on a cross from Chapel to give KU a 2-1 lead.

Early in the second half, Alfonsi assisted Dave Rostad to tie the game at 2-2, setting up overtime.

In the first overtime, goalkeeper Matthew Fredericks (jr. Montdale/Lakeland), who recorded seven saves in the game, slid to block the potential game-winner and preserve the tie.

Shippensburg outshot KU 6-0 in the overtime sessions and 22-8 in the game. It was an aggressive game as Shippensburg committed 26 fouls and KU had 24.

The Golden Bears will return to the field at noon Saturday to host West Chester in a PSAC East match at Keystone Field.
