Slippery Rock 1, Kutztown 0
BOXSCORE
KUTZTOWN, Pa.
— The Kutztown University men’s soccer team allowed a late goal in
the first half and couldn’t find the equalizer in a 1-0 loss to
Slippery Rock Saturday at Keystone Field.
Kenny Fultz scored the only goal in the Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference crossover, taking a long, leading pass from Toby Bowser
and beating KU keeper
Matthew Fredericks (jr. Montdale/Lakeland).
Fredericks, who made five saves in the game for KU (1-7-0), got his
hands on the shot from Fultz, but the ball ricocheted into the air
and just beneath the crossbar for the goal.
KU
had a prime opportunity to tie the score at 1-1 with 28:25 left in
the game, when
Jon Mill (fr. Bethlehem/Liberty) fired a shot across the
face of the goal from 18 yards out, but just missed the far post,
going wide right.
Greg Parker (fr. West Grove/Avon Grove)
also
had a golden opportunity in the second half, but Slippery Rock
keeper Greg Blum made the stop — one of his four in the game.
Slippery Rock (4-2-1)
outshot KU 14-10.
KU
will travel to Goldey-Beacom for a 4 p.m. non-conference matchup on
Monday.
