KU DEFEATS
RAMAPO 105-78 SATURDAY AT KEYSTONE HALL
KUTZTOWN, Pa.
— The Kutztown University men’s swim team earned its first win of the
season, topping Ramapo College 105-78 Saturday afternoon at Keystone
Pool.
The 400-yard medley
was won by the team of Jack Crellin (fr.
Pittsburgh/North Allegheny), Nelson Martinez (sr. Allentown/Dieruff),
Chris Howie (sr. Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek) and John Pandish (sr.
Milford/Delaware Valley) with a time of
3:45.43.
Finishing second, with a time of
3:50.12, was the team of Matt Moates (fr. South Plainfield,
N.J./South Plainfield), David Shedleski (fr. Mechanicsburg/Trinity), A.J.
Guarino (so. Royersford/Downingtown) and Jeff Travor (so.
Quakertown/Quakertown Community).
The 1,000 freestyle was swept by
Kutztown. Finishing in first place was Scott Thomas (sr. Schuylkill
Haven/Blue Mountain) with a time of 10:27.82, edging out Joe
Lahovski (fr. Allentown/Emmaus), who finished 10:27.95. Dan Troy
(fr. Aldan/Upper Darby) came in third with a time of 10:48.72.
Matt Moates (fr. South
Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) took third
in the 200 freestyle at 1:56.66. Ahead of him was teammates
Stephen Krater (jr. Port Carbon/Pottsville Area) finishing second
(1:50.19) and Pandish at first (1:49.41).
Finishing within three-tenths of
each other was Gabriel Recio (so. Lancaster/Hempfield) and
John Nicklous (sr. Philadelphia/Father Judge) to earn first and
second, respectively. Recio had a time of 23.27 and Nicklous at
23.30.
Crellin took first in the 200 IM, with a time of 2:05.08. Guarino came in third at 2:12.52.
The 100 butterfly was won by Recio (56.87) with Gaurino again
taking third place (59.22).
The top three spots were claimed by
Golden Bears in the 100 freestyle. First, with a time of 50.18, was Pandish. Orr came in second at 50.87 and Nicklous in third at 51.74.
The men’s team will return to action
at 1 p.m. Nov. 1 at East Stroudsburg, with Misericordia.
SHEELY NABS THREE FIRST-PLACE FINISHES AS KU WINS 106-78
KUTZTOWN, Pa.
— The Kutztown University women’s swim
team notched its first victory of the season with a 106-78 win over
Ramapo College Saturday afternoon at Keystone Pool.
In the 400-yard medley relay was won
by the team of Allison Sheely (so. Enola/Trinity), Stephanie Jeppesen
(jr. Bethlehem/Liberty), Nicole Hinsdale (fr. Glen Mills/Bayard Rustin)
and Jordan Shapiro (fr. Trenton N.J./Princeton) with a time of
4:08.11.
Alex Crigler (so. West
Lawn/Wilson High School) took first in the
1,000 freestyle, with a time of 10:58.53. Placing second with a time
of 12:13.17 was teammate Nina Chiavaroli (jr. Pennsburg/Upper
Perkiomen).
The top three spots were swept in
the 200 freestyle by Golden Bears. Shapiro took first (2:00.78)
Jeppesen in second (2:04.27) and third was Shelly Lawn (so. Hatboro/Gwynedd-Mercy
Academy) with a time of 2:10.20.
Sheely grabbed first in the 50 freestyle in a time of 25.90.
The 200 IM was won by Kerry
Choplin (so. Thorofare, N.J./West Deptford) with her time of
2:25.23. Second place was taken by Christine Paski (jr. Wilmington,
Del./Concord) in a time of 2:29.75.
Katie Kelly (so.
Downingtown/Downingtown) took first (1:03.24),
Lawn second (1:06.15) and Paski third (1:07.08) in the 100 butterfly.
Sheely took first again, this time in the 100 freestyle with a time
of 57.29. Coming in second was Stephanie Kearns (fr. West
Chester/West Chester East) at a time of 58.70, and third place was
claimed by Chavaroli at 1:00.14.
The women’s team will return to action 1 p.m. Nov. 1 at
East Stroudsburg, with Misericordia.
