DEFEATS ROWAN ON SATURDAY AT KEYSTONE HALL
KUTZTOWN, Pa.

The Kutztown University men’s swimming team topped Rowan on 141.5-120.5
on Saturday afternoon at Keystone Hall.
Jack Crellin (fr. Pittsburgh/North Allegheny),
Stephen Krater (jr. Port Carbon/Pottsville Area),
Joe
Lahovski (fr. Allentown/Emmaus) and
David Shedleski (fr.
Mechanicsburg/Trinity)
each took first in two events for the Golden Bears (6-3, 2-3).
Crellin took first
in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.41 and in the 200 back
with a time of 2:00.08. Taking second place in the 200 back
was
Scott Thomas (sr. Schuylkill Haven/Blue Mountain), posting a
time of 2:03.51.
Krater claimed the top spot in
100 free (50.72) and the 200 free (1:49.19).
Derek
Orr (sr. Easton/Easton) was narrowly edged out by Krater in
the 100 free, with a time of 50.74.
Lahovski finished
in first with a time of 10:12.38 in the 1,000 free. He also finished
in the top spot in the 500 free, posting a time of 5:01.40.
In the 100 breast,
Shedleski finished in first with a time of 1:03.00. He also finished
in first in the 200 breast with a time of 2:18.28,
Jeff
Travor (so. Quakertown/Quakertown Community) followed with a
time of 2:19.46.
The Golden Bears
will return to action on Feb. 19 for the Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference Championships.
GOLDEN BEARS
TOP ROWAN 152-104 AT KEYSTONE HALL
KUTZTOWN, Pa.
— The Kutztown University women’s swim
team topped Rowan University 152-104 on Saturday afternoon at Keystone
Hall.
The Golden Bears extended their
school-record in wins to 11, after setting it last week in their win
over Millersville.
In the 200-yard medley relay was won
by the team of
Allison Sheely (so. Enola/Trinity),
Stephanie Jeppesen
(jr. Bethlehem/Liberty),
Nicole Hinsdale (fr. Glen Mills/Bayard Rustin)
and
Jordan Shapiro (fr. Trenton N.J./Princeton) with a time of
1:53.38.
Individually, Jeppesen also
finished first in the 100-yard breast (1:07.98) and the 200 breast
(2:25.34).
Also with two individual
first-place finishes was Hinsdale. She took the top spot with a time
of 2:02.45 in the 200 free, with
Kerry Choplin (so. Thorofare, N.J./West Deptford) in second
(2:03.88). Hinsdale finished on top in the 200 back with a time of
2:15.11.
Alex Crigler (so. West
Lawn/Wilson High School) took first in the
500 freestyle (5:23.93) and the 1,000 free (10:52.80). In the 1,000,
Heather Wolkom (jr. Rumson, N.J./Rumson Fair-Haven) came in
second-place with a time of 11:09.38.
Sheely came in
first place in the 100 back with a time of 1:03.07, followed
by Shapiro at 1:03.48. Then Sheely finished first in the 100 free,
posting a time of 55.74.
Rounding out the
first-place finishers for KU were Shapiro and
Laura Heebner (sr. Easton/Easton).
Shapiro took first in the 50 free (26.35), just ahead of
teammate
Katie Kelly (so. Downingtown/Downingtown), who had a time of
26.69. Heebner took the top spot in the 200 fly with a time of
2:17.97.
The Golden Bears
will return to action on Feb. 19 for the Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference Championships.
