"Hard to believe that it's been 40 years since we won the state title. For those
of you who weren't there you missed an incredible 'happening.' Certain
classes were cancelled so people could attend our games. Won the title
game at Millersville and our welcome home was one I'll never forget. We
were met by a huge crowd of fans as we got off of the bus. Jim Gaston, one
of our football players grabbed me and almost broke
my back he was hugging me so hard. A bunch of off-the-wall guys who sure
knew how to play baseball. Out of our starting nine, 5 are in the Hall of
Fame, three were drafted when there were only 20 pro teams. With the
present day situation, all five would have had pro contracts. Anyone who
reads this and remembers me, I'd like to hear from you. Pete."
