KU women pick up first win over
Bloomsburg in school history
KUTZTOWN, Pa.

The Kutztown University women’s swim team picked up its first
victory in school history over Bloomsburg in a Pennsylvania State
Athletic Conference matchup, winning 115-90 Saturday.

The women were
led by Ashley Singer (sr. Lititz/Warwick), the reigning PSAC
swimmer of the week, as she won both the 500- and
1,000-yard freestyle
events with times of 5:19.39 and 10:53.06, respectively.
Also winning multiple
events for the Golden Bears was Steph Jeppesen (so.
Bethlehem/Liberty) in the 200 IM (2:15.39) and the 200 backstroke (2:28.36).
Laura Heebner
(jr. Easton/Easton) took
first in the 200 yrd butterfly with a time of 2:18.06, and
Allison Sheely (fr. Enola/Trinity) finished first in the 200
backstroke.
Jeppesen, Sheely
and Heebner also teamed up with Casey Pollard (fr. Easton/Easton) to
take first in the 400 medley with a time of 4:08.00,
earning the squad 11 points.
The Golden Bears
(7-2, 4-2 PSAC) will next be in action
at 6 p.m. Friday as they return home to
Keystone Hall against another PSAC opponent in Shippensburg
University.
KU men down Bloomsburg 122-81
BLOOMSBURG, Pa.
— The Kutztown
University men’s swim team continued its hot streak winning its
fifth straight dual meet with a 122-81 win over Bloomsburg Saturday.
Nicholas Williams (fr. Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel), Scott Thomas (jr.
Friedensburg/Blue Mountain) and Sean Bonifas (sr. Lancaster/Hempfield)
each won two individual events in the Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference win.
Bonifas, coming off a week where he was named
PSAC swimmer of the week, helped
lead KU (5-1, 2-1 PSAC) as he won the 200-yard IM
(2:03.67) and 200 breaststroke (2:19.17). He, along with Gabriel Recio (fr. Lancaster/Hempfield),
Scott Arnold (sr. Manchester/Northeastern) and Derek Orr
(jr. Easton/Easton), finished first in the 400
medley relay with a time of 3:51.15.
Williams won both the 100 free (49.43) and the 200
free (1:46.85). Thomas took first
in the 200 backstroke (2:03.53) and the 1,000 free (10:18.58).
KU will return home to Keystone
Hall at 6 p.m. Friday to take
Shippensburg University.
