KU WOMEN
PLACE
FIRST AT FRANKLIN AND MARSHALL INVITE
LANCASTER, Pa.
— Ashley Singer (sr. Lititz/Warwick) and Steph Jeppesen
(so. Bethlehem/Liberty) powered the Kutztown University women’s
swimming team to finish in first place with 686.5 points
at the Franklin and Marshall Invitational.
Singer and Jeppesen
won a combined total of six individual events, with Jeppesen setting
a new school record in the 200-yard breaststroke.

Jeppesen's
2:24.76 in the 200 breaststroke on Sunday handed her first place
in the event and qualified her for the NCAA B-cut.
Jeppesen also
finished first in two individual events on Saturday, taking first in the 200
individual medley (2:13.35) and the 100 breaststroke (1:07.72).
On Saturday, Singer blew
away the competition in the 500-yard freestyle by more than
eight seconds, finishing with a time of 5:08.25. She also took
first in the 200 freestyle with a 1:54.58. Sunday, she added
another first-place victory with a win in the 100 freestyle. She
finished the race in 53.68 seconds.
Both Jeppesen and
Singer helped the 200 and 400 medley relay teams finish first
Saturday, as
well as the 800 freestyle relay team. Allison Sheely (fr.
Enola/Trinity) and Staci McGinty (sr. Jamison/Central Bucks
East) were members of the winning 400 relay team, which finished
in 4:04.01. Sheely and Casey Pollard (fr. Easton/Easton)
teamed with Jeppesen and Singer in the 200 to finish in 1:51.86.
The 800 freestyle
relay team consisted of Singer, Jeppesen, McGinty and Jill
Pantelides (sr. Lansdowne/Archbishop Prendergast). They won the
event with a time of 7:58.69.
Singer, Pantelides,
Pollard and McGinty also teamed up to win the 400 free relay Sunday
with a time of 3:39.27.
KU will have more
than a month off before traveling to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for
their next event on Jan. 8.

MEN FINISH THIRD AT FRANKLIN AND MARSHALL INVITE
LANCASTER, Pa.
— Nicholas
Williams (fr. Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) won two individual events as the Kutztown University men's swimming team finished
third at the Franklin and Marshall Invitational.
KU posted 520.5 points
as Rowan University took first with 680 points, while Franklin and
Marshall College had 662.
Williams was the only Golden Bear
to nab a first-place finish at the invitational, landing the top spot in the 200
free (1:42.85). Sunday, in the third session, Williams won the 100
freestyle in a time of 47.71 seconds.
Williams also
helped KU pick up points Saturday when he and Scott Thomas (jr. Friedensburg/Blue Mountain)
took second and third, respectively, in the 500 freestyle. Williams finished in
4:51.02 and Thomas in 4:55.30.
KU will have more
than a month off before traveling to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for
their next event on Jan. 8.
