COMPLETE RESULTS
Ramapo, N.J.
— The Kutztown University men’s and women’s swimming teams picked up
victories Saturday at Ramapo College in a non-conference meet.
The KU men (1-1)
won 110-79, while the women (1-1) swam past Ramapo with a 108-92
win.
On the women’s
side, the Golden Bears had five individual event winners and a
first-place relay team.
Staci
McGinty (sr. Jamison/Central Bucks East) led the Golden Bears
with two first-place finishes in individual events — 100 and 200
freestyle — and one the 200 medley relay. McGinty teamed up with
Steph Jeppesen (so. Bethlehem/Liberty), Kelli Pry (fr.
Coatesville/Coatesville) and Ashley Singer (sr.
Lititz/Warwick) to finish first with a time of 1:56.94.
McGinty finished
the 200 freestyle in 2:03.84 and the 100 in 57.74 seconds.
Singer also placed
first in the 1,000 freestyle event with a time of 10:52.69.
Jill Pantelides
(sr. Lansdowne/Archbishop Prendergast) and Laura Heebner (jr.
Easton/Easton) were the other first-place finishers for KU.
Pantelides took first in the 50 freestyle, finishing in 26.47
seconds, while Heebner won the 100 butterfly in 1:04.04.
The Golden Bear men
had seven individual event winners to go with their win in the
200-yard medley relay. Sean Bonifas (sr. Lancaster/Hempfield),
John Nicklous (jr. Philadelphia/Father Judge), Stephen
Krater (so. Port Carbon/Pottsville Area) and Gabriel Recio (fr.
Lancaster/Hempfield) worked together to finish first at 1:44.35.
Recio also had a
first-place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.83 seconds.
Scott Arnold
(sr. Manchester/Northeastern) won the 100 butterfly, finishing
in 56.23 seconds.
Greg Fournier
(sr. Warrington/Central Bucks East) took the top spot in the
1,000 freestyle, finishing in 10:39.28, while Derek Orr (jr.
Easton/Easton) won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:53.07.
Andrew Guarino (fr.
Downingtown/Downingtown West), Scott Thomas (jr. Friedensburg/Blue
Mountain) and Nicholas Williams (fr. Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel)
rounded out the seven first-place finishers.
Guarino won the 100
backstroke in 1:05.84. Thomas was first in the 200 individual medley
at 2:07.84 and Williams took first in the 100 freestyle, finishing
in 49.94 seconds.
The KU women will
compete again at 1 p.m. on Nov. 3 against East Stroudsburg at
Keystone Hall. The men will join the women for a meet at 6 p.m. Nov.
14 at Misericordia.
