Kutztown downs Bloomsburg, Edinboro and Mansfield

KUTZTOWN, PA (November, 7 2009) -- The Kutztown University women’s swim team won all three of their matches at home, beating Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) rivals Bloomsburg 139.50-122.50, Edinboro 195-66 and Mansfield 219-37. (MEET RESULTS)

Eight Golden Bear swimmers won their individual event, and the Kutztown 'A' squad consisting of Allison Sheely (Enola/Trinity), Heather Wolkom (Rumson, N.J./Rumson Fair-Haven), Nicole Hinsdale (Glen Mills/Bayard Rustin) and Lauren Malloy won the 200 yard freestyle Relay with a time of 1 minute 42.28 seconds.

Senior Steph Jeppesen (Bethlehem/Liberty) won three of her individual events. She placed first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.79. In the 200 yard breaststroke, she finished in 2:28.00 and in the 200-yard Individual Medley she finished in 2:12.04.

Also winning three individual races was Jordan Shapiro (Trenton, N.J./Princeton). Shapiro won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.67. She also won the 50-yard freestyle (25.58) and 200-yard backstroke (2:11.86).

Kerry Choplin (Thorofare, N.J./West Deptford) won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:52.29. Wolkom won the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:17.58

The Golden Bears will travel to Indiana, (PA) to compete against PSAC Rivals Indiana and Mansfield on Saturday, Nov. 14.They return home on Nov. 20 to host the Golden Bear Invitational.
