KU women win 7-2 over East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — The Kutztown University women's tennis team defeated East Stroudsburg 7-2 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East contest on Sunday afternoon.

Barbara Joerns (jr. Ludwigshafen, GERMANY) and Rohini Das (jr. Calcutta, INDIA) teamed up to win their No. 1 doubles match 8-3.

KU (8-2, 2-0 PSAC East) won all of their singles matches over the Warriors (5-6, 1-2).

Das won her No. 1 singles match 6-4, 6-2 over Amanda Kaufman. Joerns won in No. 2 singles 6-3 and 6-2.

Sabrina Arnaud (jr. Pintendre, CANADA) won 6-3, 6-0 and  Nicole Devine (fr. Allentown/Allentown Central Catholic) won each of her singles matches 6-4.

Shir Suez (jr. Even Yehuda, ISREAL) won in No. 5 singles 7-5 and 6-2 over Marissa Tanner. Tess Wright (so. Lewisburg/Lewisburg) rounded out the winning with a 6-3, 6-3 victory.

The Golden Bears will travel to Bloomsburg for a PSAC East match on Tuesday at 3 p.m.

KU shut out East Stroudsburg 9-0

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. —The Kutztown University men's tennis team won all nine matches at East Stroudsburg on Sunday afternoon.

KU improves to 6-3 on the season and 2-0 in the eastern division of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.

The No. 1 doubles team of  Lukas Labitsch (sr. Bruck an der Mur, AUSTRIA) and Arpit Sharma (jr. Kolkata, INDIA) won 8-2 over Will Norris and Mark Covert.

Labitsch won his singles match 6-2, 6-2 in the second spot. Sharma also won his singles match blanking Zach Ontell 6-0, 6-0.

Rubens Vianna (sr. Belo Horizonte, BRAZIL) and Arijit Goswami (fr. Kolkata, INDIA) won 8-4 in their doubles match at No. 2 while Santiago Baquerizo (sr. Guayaquil, ECUADOR) and Jonathan Goulet (jr. Quebec, CANADA) won 8-1.

Andrew Torrealba (jr. Pembroke Pines, Fla..Charles W. Flanagan) won in the fifth singles spot by a score of 6-1 and 6-2.

The Golden Bears will travel to Bloomsburg for a PSAC East match on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
