ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — The Kutztown University men’s tennis team fell 5-0 to Lynn University at the  NCAA Division II Championships on Wednesday at Rollins College in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

The Fighting Knights (19-3) are ranked No. 2 nationally and were too much for the Golden Bears to handle.

Lynn started off the day with a sweep of the doubles matches. The No. 2 doubles team of Lukas Labitsch (sr. Bruck an der Mur, AUSTRIA) and Arpit Sharma (jr. Kolkata, INDIA) lost for the first time this season, in an 8-4 defeat by Tomas Racak and Luca Pavanelli.

Santiago Baquerizo (sr. Guayaquil, ECUADOR) was mounting a comeback when the fifth win was clinched by Lynn. After dropping the first set 6-3, Baquerizo was ahead 3-0 in the No. 2 singles match.

At No. 3 singles, Labitsch was keeping up with Alessandro Sarra in the second set, but the two were unable to finish their match. Sarra won the first set 6-2, but Labitsch was trailing only 3-2 when the contest was called.

The Golden Bears finished off the season with a 15-5 overall record and winner of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
