KU women win 7-2 over West Chester

WEST CHESTER, Pa. — Barbara Joerns (jr. Ludwigshafen, GERMANY) and Rohini Das (jr. Calcutta, INDIA) led the Kutztown University women's tennis team to a 7-2 win over West Chester Tuesday.

KU (7-2) is now 1-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play.

Joerns and Das teamed to defeat Maria Kostaris and Kara Shumock at No. 1 doubles 8-2, while Joerns won 7-6 (10-2), 6-2 over Kostaris in the No. 1 singles and Das won 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2 singles.

Sabrina Arnaud (jr. Pintendre, CANADA), Nicole Devine (fr. Allentown/Allentown Central Catholic) and Tess Wright (so. Lewisburg/Lewisburg) also picked up wins in the singles matches for KU.

Arnaud and Devine teamed to win 9-7 in the No. 2 doubles.

KU rout West Chester in 8-1 PSAC win Tuesday

WEST CHESTER, Pa. — The Kutztown University men's tennis team won eight out of nine matches to defeat West Chester 8-1 Tuesday.

Kaushik Das (Assam, INDIA) won at No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles to lead the Golden Bears (5-3, 1-0 PSAC).

Das defeated Jeff Rightnour 6-4, 6-2 in their singles match. He also teamed with Rubens Vianna (sr. Belo Horizonte, BRAZIL) to win 8-2 in their No. 1 doubles match.

Arpit Sharma (jr. Kolkata, INDIA) and Jonathan Goulet (jr. Quebec, CANADA) also went 2-0 Tuesday for KU.

Goulet won 6-1, 6-1 over Matt Thomas in the No. 2 singles and teamed with Santiago Baquerizo (sr. Guayaquil, ECUADOR) to win 8-0 in the No. 3 doubles match.

Sharma teamed with Lukas Labitsch (sr. Bruck an der Mur, AUSTRIA) in an 8-1 No. 2 doubles win and defeated John Howanski 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

Andrew Torrealba (jr. Pembroke Pines, Fla..Charles W. Flanagan) and Arijit Goswami (fr. Kolkata, INDIA) also picked up singles wins for KU.
