COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. — The Kutztown University men's and women's indoor track and field teams both placed first out of 14 teams at the Ursinus Collegeville Classic Friday.

The men scored 87 points, to edge out Farmindale St. (80) and Cheyney (77). Rutgers-Camden scored 55 to finish fourth and St. Joseph's had 42 to round out the top five.

On the women's side, KU scored 132 points to finish ahead of St. Joseph's (100). West Chester (69), Millersville (54) and Cheyney (37) rounded out the top five.

The KU women's 1,600-meter relay teams, both the A-team and the B-team, swept the top two spots.

Samirah Barczynski (so. Mohnton/Governor Mifflin) finished first in the 200 with a time of 27.90.

Joanna Horstmann (jr. Downingtown/Downingtown West) and Stephanie Williams (sr. Harrisburg/Riverside) finished first and second, respectively, in the 1-mile run with times of 5:21.95 and 5:22.85.

Michelle Hughes (sr. Warminster/William Tennent) and Ashley Pinter (fr. Bethlehem/Liberty) did the same in the women's shot put. Hughes took first with a throw of 38-1 1/2, while Pinter took second with 37-9 1/2.

Kelly Strickland (so. Bear, Del./Caravel Academy) won the pole vault with a jump of 10-6.

For the men, Billy Boorse (sr. Collegeville/Perkiomen Valley) won the 800 with a time of 1:58.29.

In the field events, Jim Dart (sr. Havertown/Haverford) finished first in the shot put (52-5 1/2), while Justin Germani (fr. Birdsboro/Daniel Boone) won the pole vault (14-5 1/2).
