KU RESULTS

LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Kutztown University men’s indoor track and field team opened the season with 10 top-eight finishers, while the women had five at the Bucknell Opener Saturday.


    Dart

James Dart (sr. Havertown/Haverford) highlighted the meet with his NCAA provisional qualifying throw of 52-6 ½ in the shot put. The throw gave him third in the event, ahead of teammate Steve Tyson (sr. Bridgeport/Upper Merion), who finished seventh with at throw of 49-5 ¾.

On the women's side, Doofan Tor-Agbidye (jr. Stewartsville, N.J./Phillipsburg) had the best overall finish at the invitational for KU, taking second in the 400-meter run with a time of 59.08 seconds. Teammate Heather Spangenberg (so. Clarks Summit/Abington Heights) finished eighth in the 400 in 1:01.72.

The KU women’s team placed three athletes in the pole vault competition. Kelly Strickland (so. Bear, Del./Caravel Academy) tied for third with a jump of 10-10, while both Rachel Weigle (so. Red Lion/Red Lion) and Alison Wise (so. Denver/Garden Spot) tied for sixth with a jump of 10-4.

Jessica Schlechter (so. Chalfont/Central Bucks South) also placed on the women’s side, taking seventh in the 800 with a time of 2:27.53.

On the men’s side, Michael Kramer (fr. Pine Grove/Pine Grove) and Devin Peterson (fr. Kutztown/Kutztown) tied for fourth in the long jump with leaps of 21-11. Justin Germani (fr. Birdsboro/Daniel Boone) took fifth in the pole vault at 15-3.

Billy Boorse (sr. Collegeville/Perkiomen Valley) took third in the 800 with a 1:57.15, while Kendall Dixon (so. Atglen/Octorara) finished fourth in the 400 at 50.3 seconds.

Steve Hixon (sr. Coopersburg/Southern Lehigh) ran the 500 in 1:07.93 to finish eighth, while in the 60 hurdles, Vonkurt Redley (sr. Philadelphia/Cheltenham) finished in 8.40 seconds taking sixth.

Hixon, Boorse, Dixon and Ian Clark (jr. Troy, N.H./Monadnock Regional) worked together to finish seventh in the 1,600 relay.

KU will compete again at 1 p.m. Jan. 11 at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Challenge.
