2008 Meet Results

Bears Compete at Susquehanna Open
SELINSGROVE, Pa –
Kutztown University Track and Field athletes combined for a total of
35 top-eight finishes at the Susquehanna Open on Saturday. Five
athletes came away with first place finishes and several field house
records were broken.
Kristin Cupido
won the 3000 meters in a time of 10:31.84 while fellow freshman
Keri Brown won the mile run in a time of 5:13.85 setting a new
field house record. Senior Stephanie Williams took second in
the event with a time of 5:18.00.
The Kutztown
women’s 4x400 team of Laura Deller, Heather Spangenberg,
Joanna Horstmann, and Doofan Tor-Agbidye placed first
setting a field house record running 4:02.52. The “B” team placed
seventh in 4:19.75. The women’s 4x800 team of Williams,
Katie Colburn, Jessica Donovan and Rebecca Kerchak
took third in a time of 10:21.87.
In the weight
throw, Michelle Hughes took second place with a throw of
50-01.50 joining the “fifty foot club”; Ashley Pinter placed
seventh in the event (43-08). Hughes also placed fifth in the
shot put with a toss of 38-00.75 while Pinter threw 36-07.75
for a seventh place finish.
Kelly Strickland
and Alison Wise placed second and third respectively in
the pole vault with clearances of 10-06 and 10-00.
Other top eight
finishers included Joanna Horstmann in the 400 (3 -1:01.14),
Christina Reimer in the 5000 (5 - 19:01.96), Jennifer Zook
in the high jump (7 – 4-11.75), Alex Butler in the long jump
(5 – 16-10), and Kayla Greaves in the long jump (8 –
16-4.25).
On the men’s side,
Jim Dart placed first in the weight throw with a heave of
55-06.50 and Steve Tyson placed seventh in the event
(47-06.25). Dart broke his own school record and tied the
field house record in the shot put with his second place throw of
55-01. Tyson (53-06.50) placed third in the event while
freshman Sam Wall rounded out the top eight with 46-06.
Cody Hartzler
was the top finisher in the high jump with a season best jump of
6-6.
Three men finished
in the top six in the long jump on Saturday; Devin Peterson
recorded a jump of 21-10, to place second while Mike Kramer
and Ian Clark took fourth and sixth with jumps of 21-4.75 and
20-10.
Events with two top
eight finishers were the 55 high hurdles with VonKurt Redley
taking second in 7.79 and teammate Shane Harvey coming in
fifth, running 8.15. Steve Hixson and Kramer both ran
23.26 in the 200 meter dash to take fifth and sixth place in the
event.
The men’s 4x400
relay team of Harvey, Hixson, Billy Boorse and
Redley placed second running 3:25.00 while the “B” team
placed seventh in a time of 3:33.92
Finishing up the
meet, Kutztown’s 4x800 team of Ian Clark, Shaun Crump,
Ben Loht and Matt Reightler brought home a third place
finish in 8:25.54.
