Horstmann sets new school record at DeSchriver Invite

KUTZTOWN, Pa. — Joanna Horstmann (sr. Downingtown/Downingtown West) set a new school record in the 1,000-meter run, placing first as the Kutztown University women’s indoor track and field team competed Saturday at the DeSchriver Invitational at East Stroudsburg University.

Horstmann’s time of 2:59.80 was good enough for the record and the only first-place finish by KU Saturday.

Melissa Fellenbaum (fr. Landisville/Hempfield) and Stephanie Grimm (fr. Fleetwood/Oley Valley) had second-place finishes for KU, with Fellenbaum scoring a 10-6 in the pole vault and Grimm running the mile in 5:25.60.

Cristina Reimer (so. Chester Springs/Downingtown East) was fifth in the mile (5:29.54).

Brooke Mathews (fr. Reedsville/Indian Valley), Katie Quinn (jr. Glenolden/Interboro) and Christina Costanzo (fr. Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan) had multiple top-eight finishes for KU.

Mathews placed third in the 200 (26.89), sixth in the 55 dash (7.69) and tied for fifth in the long jump (16-0).

Quinn was fourth in the 200 (26.93) and fifth in the 55 dash (7.62).

Costanzo was fourth in the long jump (16-6) and fifth in the triple jump 33-8.

Quinn, teamed with Horstmann, Doofan Tor-Agbidye (sr. Stewartsville, N.J./Phillipsburg) and Rachel Hunte (fr. Chester Springs/Downingtown East), placed second in the 1,600 relay (4:12.23).

Tor-Agbidye also placed fifth in the 400 (1:02.59).

Jill Kostishion (fr. Hilltown/Pennridge) was third in the 500 (1:23.40) and Jessica Schlecter (jr. Chalfont/Central Bucks South) placed third in the 800 (2:24.23).

Jennifer Zook (so. Lewistown/Indian Valley) tied for seventh in the high jump (4-11) and Hailey Dell (sr. Saranac Lake, N.Y./Saranac Lake) was eighth in the 1,000 (3:24.17).

KU will return to action on Feb. 14 at the Bucknell Winter Classic.

Longmore leads men's team at DeSchriver Invite

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — T.J. Longmore (jr. Lititz/Manheim Twp.) collected a first-place finish and Shane Harvey (so. Pattenburg, N.J./North Hunterdon) had one of five second-place finishes for the Kutztown University men’s indoor track and field team Saturday at the DeSchriver Invitational at East Stroudsburg University.

Longmore finished first in the 55-meter hurdles (7.98), ahead of second-place finisher Harvey (8.04).

Cody Hartzler (sr. Belleville/Indian Valley), Shaun Crump (jr. Boyertown/Boyertown), and Craig Sherwood (fr. Perkasie/Pennridge) also nabbed second-place finishes for KU.

Hartzler was second in the high jump (6-3).

Crump was the runner-up in the 500 (1:08.34), and teammate Matt Reightler (so. Bethlehem/Northampton) was fifth (1:09.60).

Sherwood was second in the pole vault (14-6), beating out teammates Justin Germani (so. Birdsboro/Daniel Boone), who was fourth (14-6), and William Hodges (jr. Levittown/Neshaminy), who tied for eighth (13-0).

The KU 1,600 relay team, comprised of Kendel Dixon (jr. Atglen/Octorara), Ryan Reich (fr. Oley/Oley Valley), Harvey and Crump, finished second (3:28.87).

Dixon finished fourth in the 200 (22.95) and Reich was fifth in the 1,000 (2:39.23).

KU will return to action on Feb. 14 at the Bucknell Winter Classic.
