Rebuck sets school record, hits NCAA provisional mark

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Jason Rebuck (jr. Southampton/William Tennent) hit two NCAA provisional qualifying marks and set a new school record as the Kutztown University men's outdoor track and field team finished fourth at the Eight-Way Meet at Moravian College Saturday.

Rebuck finished first in the discus with a school record toss of 163-11. It also was an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. His second-place finish in the hammer throw (178-1) also was a provisional qualifying mark. Rebuck also placed sixth in the shot put (45-10).

The men finished fourth with 107 points. East Stroudsburg scored 148.5 points to win the meet.

Kendel Dixon (jr. Atglen/Octorara) and Matt Cannell (fr. Douglassville/Daniel Boone) also picked up first-place finishes.

Dixon was first in the 400 (49.58) and Cannell was first in the long jump (22-8).

Dixon also finished fourth in 200 (22.59), while Cannell was seventh in the triple jump (42-4).

Robert Clews (so. Ashland/North Schuylkill) finished behind Cannell in both events, placing fifth in the long jump (21-4 1/4) and eighth in the triple jump (41-8 3/4).

Cody Hartzler (sr. Belleville/Indian Valley) placed second in the high jump (6-2 3/4) and Trenton Branam (jr. Washington Crossing/Pennsbury) was fourth in the javelin (176-5).

Sam Wall (so. Newville/Big Spring) placed in three events with his top finish coming in the discus, where he was fourth (139-4). Wall also finished fifth in the shot put (47-0 3/4) and eighth in the hammer throw (151-2).

In the pole vault, Justin Germani (so. Birdsboro/Daniel Boone) tied for fourth with Percell Berry (fr. Norristown/Methacton) with a mark of 13-11 1/4. William Hodges (jr. Levittown/Neshaminy) tied for sixth (13-5 1/4).

T.J. Longmore (jr. Lititz/Manheim Twp.) was third in the 110 hurdles (15.02), followed by Sam McKellar (sr. Allentown/Dieruff), who was seventh (15.82), and Matt Bailey (fr. Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey), was eighth (15.90).

Jason Rowles (jr. Broomall/Marple Newtown) was fifth in the 400 hurdles (58.33).

Frank Nick (fr. Kintnersville/Palisades) was seventh in the 3,000 steeplechase (10:14.75).


Three first-place finishes fuel KU women at Eight-Way Meet 

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Three members of the Kutztown University women’s track and field team earned individual first-place finishes Saturday to lead the Golden Bears to a fifth-place finish at the Eight-Way Meet at Moravian College.

KU finished fifth with 107 points and Moravian College won the meet with 124 points.

Joanna Horstmann (sr. Downingtown/Downingtown West), Cristina Reimer (so. Chester Springs/Downingtown East) and Ashley Pinter (so. Bethlehem/Liberty) all had first-place finishes for KU.

Horstmann won the 3,000 (10:16.66) and Reimer won the 3,000 steeplechase (11:23.44).

Pinter took the top spot in the discus (132-1). She also finished second in the shot put (40-4 1/4) and third in the hammer throw (152-7).

Katie Quinn (jr. Glenolden/Interboro) finished fifth in the 100 (12.88) and sixth in the 200 (26.40).

In the 400, Jessica Schlecter (jr. Chalfont/Central Bucks South) was third (1:02.43) and Stephanie Grimm (fr. Fleetwood/Oley Valley) was eighth (2:25.01). Grimm also placed fourth in the 1,500 (4:48.06).

Lynn Lisofsky (so. Wilkes-Barre/James M. Coughlin) was third in the 400 hurdles (1:07.99) and Jessica Donovan (sr. Newtown/Pennsbury) was fourth (1:09.06).

Rachel Weigle (jr. Red Lion/Red Lion) finished third in the pole vault (10-6), ahead of Melissa Fellenbaum (fr. Landisville/Hempfield), who was fourth (10-0) and Alison Wise (jr. Fivepointville/Garden Spot), who was eighth (9-0 1/4).

Wise also placed sixth in the javelin (107-4).

Christina Costanzo (fr. Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan) was third in the long jump (17-6 3/4) and fourth in the triple jump (35-0 1/4).
