Horstmann, Weigle, Pinter lead KU at Lynchburg Invitational
LYNCHBURG, Va.

Joanna Horstmann (sr. Downingtown/Downingtown West)
and
Rachel Weigle (jr. Red Lion/Red Lion)
each earned first-place finishes as the
Kutztown University women’s outdoor track and field team opened its
season at the Lynchburg College Invitational.
Horstmann took the
top spot in the 1,500-meter run (4:50.01), while Weigle won the pole
vault (10-2).
Ashley Pinter (so. Bethlehem/Liberty)
also had a big day, finishing second in
the shot put (39-7 1/4), the discus
(132-0 ½) and the hammer throw (150-9).
Stephanie Grimm (fr. Fleetwood/Oley Valley)
finished fifth in the 1,500 (4:58.80),
and in 800, she was eighth (2:27.51).
Jessica Schlecter (jr. Chalfont/Central Bucks South)
was fifth in the 800 (2:23.71) and
Jill Kostishion (fr. Hilltown/Pennridge)
was sixth (2:25.54).
Kristin Cupido (so. Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan)
earned a fourth-place finish in
the 5,000 (18:20.60).
In the 100,
Katie Quinn (jr. Glenolden/Interboro)
was eighth (13.15), and in the 400
hurdles,
Katie Colburn (so. Hanover/South Western)
and
Lynn Lisofsky (so. Wilkes-Barre/James M. Coughlin)
were sixth (1:07.39) and eighth
(1:08.06) in the 400 hurdles, respectively.
In the field,
Melissa Fellenbaum (fr. Landisville/Hempfield)
was fourth in the pole vault (9-8) and
Alison Wise (jr. Fivepointville/Garden Spot)
tied for seventh (8-8 1/4).
Wise also placed
eighth in the javelin (103-3), while
Christina Costanzo (fr. Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan)
was sixth in the long jump (17-4).
KU’s 1,600 relay
‘A’-team finished third (4:05.07)
and the 400 relay ‘A’-team was fourth (50.08).
Doofan Tor-Agbidye (sr. Stewartsville, N.J./Phillipsburg),
Colburn, Horstmann, Schlecter teamed up in the 1,600 relay, while
Samirah Barczynski (jr. Mohnton/Governor Mifflin),
Quinn,
Brooke Mathews (fr. Reedsville/Indian Valley),
Tor-Agbidye competed in the 400 relay.

Boutsikaris hits NCAA provisional mark at Lynchburg Invite
LYNCHBURG, Va.

Christian Boutsikaris (sr. Newton/Newton)
led the Kutztown University men’s
outdoor track and field team in its season opener with a first-place
finish Saturday at the Lynchburg Invitational.
Boutsikaris took
the top spot in the hammer throw with an NCAA provisional qualifying
mark of 179-11 1/2. He also placed fifth in the javelin (178-1).
Jason Rebuck (jr. Southampton/William Tennent)
finished behind Boutsikaris in the
hammer throw, taking fourth (170-1).
Rebuck’s top finish
was in the discus, placing third (151-0). He also placed seventh in
the shot put (46-6 3/4).
On the track,
Kendel Dixon (jr. Atglen/Octorara)
placed second in the 400 (49.30), while
T.J. Longmore (jr. Lititz/Manheim Twp.)
was third in the 110 hurdles (15.05).
Shane Harvey (so. Pattenburg, N.J./North Hunterdon)
was right behind him in fourth (15.68).
Shaun Crump (jr. Boyertown/Boyertown)
placed fifth in the 800 (1:59) to round
out the track events.
In the field,
Matt Cannell (fr. Douglassville/Daniel Boone)
placed in the top eight in two events.
He was third in the long jump (21-7 1/2) and eighth in the triple
jump (40-10 1/2).
Robert Clews (so. Ashland/North Schuylkill)
was sixth in the long jump (21-3 1/2).
Percell Berry (fr. Norristown/Methacton)
tied for seventh in the pole vault (13-6
1/4), while
Sam Wall (so. Newville/Big Spring)
was seventh in the discus (145-6).
KU’s 1,600 relay team, comprised of Harvey, Dixon,
Joe Tavormina (so. Hellertown/Saucon Valley)
and Crump, finished second (3:25.11).
Cannell, Dixon, Berry and
Sam McKellar (sr. Allentown/Dieruff)
placed fourth in the 400 relay (43.71).
