Gentry's first-place finish highlights strong opening for KU men at
Bucknell
LEWISTOWN, PA. (December 5, 2009) –
Sean Gentry’s first place effort in the high jump highlighted the
opening day for the Kutztown University men’s indoor track and field
team Saturday afternoon at Bucknell University.

Gentry had a clearance of 6 feet, 8.25 inches to
finish in a three-way tie for first place in the high jump. Gentry’s
effort in the field events rubbed off on Will Hodges and Matt
Cannell (Douglassville/Daniel Boone). Each athlete placed third
in their respective events. Hodges soared 15 feet, 3 inches in the
pole vault. Meanwhile, Cannell leaped 22 feet, 5 inches in the long
jump. Sean Gentry was fifth in the long jump (22-2) and eighth in
the triple jump (43-5).
Kori Meshaw (Lancaster/Hempfield)
won his heat of the
500-meter run in 1 minute, 7.36 seconds. That effort tied him for
fourth overall in the event. Meshaw teamed with Joe Tavormina (Hellerstown/Saucon
Valley), Matt Reightler (Bethlehem/Northampton) and
Shaun Crump (Boyertown/Boyertown) to finish fifth in the 4 x
400-meter relay (3:26.92). Crump was sixth in 500-meter run
(1:07.78). Reightler was seventh in the 800-meter run (2:01.23).
Jason Rebuck (Southampton/William Tennent)
had a productive day, finishing sixth in the 35-pound weight throw
(51 feet, seven inches) and seventh in the shot put (44-5). Rebuck
finished one spot behind teammate Greg Senatore (Bayville,
NJ/Central Regional), who was sixth in the shot put (45-3).
Justin Germani (Birdsboro/Daniel Boone) tied for sixth in the
pole vault with a clearance of 14 feet, 9 inches.
T.J. Longmere (Manheim Township/Manheim Township)
was eighth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.70).
Kutztown returns to action on Friday January 15 when
it hosts the KU College Indoor Meet beginning at 1 p.m.
