Watson and
Grimm lead Kutztown women at Bucknell
LEWISTOWN, PA. (December 5, 2009) –
Maureen Watson (Walnutport/Allentown Central Catholic) and
Stephanie Grimm (Fleetwood/Oley Valley) picked up where they
left off during the cross-country season by finishing first and
second respectively in the 3,000-meter run for the Kutztown
University women’s indoor track and field team at the Bucknell
Invitational Saturday afternoon.
(MEET RESULTS)
Watson and Grimm helped the cross-country team finish
14th at the NCAA championships two weeks ago. Saturday,
they were the leaders of the pack as Watson crossed the finish line
in 10 minutes, 30 seconds to win the event. Grimm finished in a time
of 10:32.25. Keri Brown (Southampton, NJ/Seneca) had an
exciting one-mile run race as she placed second (5:15.95).
Ashley Pinter (Bethlehem/Liberty)
threw the 20-pound weight 51 feet, 11 inches, which was good enough
for second place in the event. Pinter also finished eighth in the
shot put (40-7). April Doyle (Greenfield Twp/Lakeland) was
fourth in the shot put (42-11.75).
In the high jump, Maggie O’Neil
(Rockland/Cranberry) tied for third with a clearance of 5 feet,
1 inch. Meanwhile, Lynn Lisofsky (Wilkes-Barre/Coughlin) won
her heat of the 500-meter run in 1:21.63. Lisosky’s time was tied
her for fifth overall.
Alex Sable (Lansdale/Gwynedd-Mercy Academy),
Alison Wise (Fivepointsville/Garden Spot) and Rachel
Weigle (Red Lion/Red Lion Area) tied for eighth in the pole
vault with a clearance of 9 feet, 4.25 inches. Kristin Slack soared
16 feet, 5.25 inches in the long jump, good enough for an
eighth-place effort. Jessica Schlecter was also eighth in the
800-meter run (2:27.61)
Kutztown returns to action on Friday January 15 when
it hosts the KU College Indoor Meet beginning at 1 p.m.
