KU Women 7th at ESU Invitational

EAST STROUDSBURG, PA - Kutztown's women placed 7th of 9 teams at the East Stroudsburg Pete Nevins Invitational on Saturday.

Resting its starters, KU scored 176 points.  Catholic (44) and ESU (46) were the top two teams. 

KU's men did not compete. 

Individual results for KU's runners were not available Saturday night.

KU Women's place fourth, Men Ninth at the Lafayette Invitational

EASTON, PA - The Kutztown University cross country teams competed at the Lafayette Invitational Saturday morning. The women placed a impressive fourth out of 13 against all Division I opponents.  The men placed ninth out of 14.

The women's top runner was Stephanie Williams.  She finished fifth overall in the pool of 134 runners. Her time on the 6K course was 20:59.  Pat Bone was the men's top finisher on the 8K course.  He finished in a time of 26:49, good for 33rd.

KU Men place fourth, Women place 20th

BETHLEHEM, PA - The Kutztown University women's cross country team placed 20th in the invitational group at the Paul Short Invitational Friday afternoon.  Stephanie Williams led the Golden Bears, finishing 72nd with a time of 22:27 in the 6K race.  Joanna Horstmann placed 93rd with a time of 22:47.  Cheryl Dingman ran in 22:57 for 105th, Desiree Bower was 114th in 23:07 and Chelsea Thomas was 126th in 23:31.  Rounding out Kutztown top seven were Maureen Watson in 155th (23:37) and Jolene Collins in 193rd (24:24).

The Golden Bear women competed in the Women's Invitational Division, which are the Division I school's along with the ranked Division II and III school's.  Kutztown is currently ranked 13th in Division II.

The men's cross country team placed 4th in the open division at the Paul Short Invitational with 179 points.  Ithaca finished first with 88 points.  Muhlenberg was second with 94 points and Dickinson was third with 124 points.

Pat Bone was Kutztown's top finishers, placing eighth overall in a time of 26:16 in the 8K race.  Joe Haughey placed 15th in 26:36.  Tony Skiles finished 45th (27:09), Dan Wilde was 50th (27:14) and John Pyne was 61st (27:22). Rounding out Kutztown's top seven were Pat McKeever in 70th (27:35) and Tim Schlappich in 75th (27:39).

KU Women place ninth, Men 16th at the Spiked Shoe Invitational

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA - The men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Spiked Shoe Invitational at Penn State on Saturday.  The women, ranked 14th in Division II,  finished ninth while the men placed 16th.

Stephanie Williams was Kutztown's top runner in the 6K, finishing with a time of 22:59 (38th).  Pat Bone was the men's top finished in the five mile run, finishing in 27:23 (46th).

KU Women place first, Men second at Maroon & Gold Invitational

KUTZTOWN, PA - The men and women's cross country teams hosted the 2006 Maroon & Golden Invitational Saturday.  The women placed first while the men finished second.


Stephanie Williams won the 2006 Maroon & Gold Invitational

The KU women finished with 25 points.  Lock Haven came in second with 48 points and West Chester placed third with 69 points.  Stephanie Williams finished first overall with a time of 24:24 in the 6k run.  Joanna Horstmann placed third in 24:46.

The Golden Bear men finished second with 40 points.  Lock Haven came in first with 29 points and West Chester placed third with 62 points.  Patrick Bone finished first for KU, second overall in the 8k run, with a time of 27:10.  Joe Haughey finished sixth in 27:56.

KU opens season at Lehigh Valley Championships

BETHLEHEM, PA - Kutztown's men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2006 season at the Lehigh Valley Championships, hosted by Lehigh University.

The women placed second out of three teams, while the men were second out of four teams.  Lehigh won both team titles.  On the women's side, Lehigh tallied 25 points with KU second with 34.  Muhlenberg finished third with 84 points.  Lehigh's men had 15 points for the win, followed by Kutztown with 60 points.  Muhlenberg collected 81 points for third while DeSales finished fourth with 94.

Stephanie Williams placed second overall in the women's race, with a time of 22:42 to lead Kutztown on the 6k course.

Dan Wilde was the top finisher for the KU men, placing 11th with a time of 26:41 on the 8k course.
