Maroon and Gold Invitational

KUTZTOWN, Pa. — Despite resting their regular top seven runners, Kutztown's women placed first at the annual Maroon & Gold Invitational on North Campus Course Saturday morning.  KU's men, who rested their top two runners, were second.

KU's Steph Grimm (sr. Fleetwood/Oley Valley) was the overall winner for Kutztown's women, finishing the 6,000-meter course in 25:00.0.  KU scored 23 points, ahead of second place West Chester with 32 and third place Albright with 83.

Maureen Watson (jr. Walnutport/Allentown Central Catholic) placed second in 25:29.  Jill Kostishion (fr. Hilltown/Pennridge) was fifth in 26:31; followed by Chelsea Ray (fr. Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) in seventh (27:03) and Lindsey Ray (fr. Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) in eighth (27:27).

For KU's men, Ryan Reich (fr. Oley/Oley Valley) placed third overall, with a time of 28:32 on the 8,000-meter course.Frank Nick (fr. Kintersville/Palisades) was fifth in 28:44, while Paul Kuehnle (fr. Saddle Brook, N.J./Saddle Brook) was sixth (28:48). 

DeSales won the men's team title with 29 points, followed by KU with 60, West Chester wtih 69 and Albright with 79.

Rounding out KU's five were Jubilant Kunce (fr. Red Lion/Red Lion), who placed 21st in the scoring standings, 27th overall, with a time of 32:23; and Steve Guthrie (fr. Chester Springs/Devon Prep) who was 25th in the scoring, 35th overall, with a time of 34:51.
