TAKES TOP SPOT AT LAFAYETTE INVITE
EASTON, Pa — The No. 13-ranked Kutztown University
women’s cross country team finished in first out of eight
teams with five of the Golden Bears placing in the top 10 Saturday
at the Lafayette Leopard Invitational.
KU finished with
25 points, ahead of American (61), Lafayette (85) and Rutgers (96).
Muhlenberg (147), Seton Hall (150), LaSalle (163) and East
Stroudsburg (179) rounded out the teams competing Saturday.
Joanna Horstmann (sr. Downingtown/Downingtown West) led
the Golden Bears, placing first with at time of 21:16 in the 6K
race.
Kristin Cupido (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) was
third (21:34), while
Hailey Dell (Saranac Lake, N.Y./Saranac Lake) was fourth
(21:39).
Kristy Ulrich (fr. Duncannon/Susquenita)
placed seventh for KU with a time of 22:02 and
Cristina Reimer (so. Chester Spring/Downingtown East)
was 10th at 22:21.
One place
and one second behind Reimer was
Keri Brown (so. Southampton, N.J./Seneca)
and
Maureen Watson (jr. Walnutport/Allentown Central Catholic)
was 14th with a time of 22:37.
Lindsey Ray (fr. Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) also had a good
race for KU, placing 23rd at 23:16.
"This is
probably the best race I've seen, with the team being so
competitive," KU coach Ray Hoffman said. "It was a great race to
watch."
The Golden Bears will run again at the Pete Nevins Invitational on
Oct. 25.
KU MEN FINISH
EIGHTH AT LEOPARD INVITE
EASTON, Pa. —
The Kutztown University men's cross country team finished eighth
out of 10 teams Saturday at the Lafayette Leopard Invitational.
KU scored 200 points to
finish ahead of Lafayette (208) and Widener (283). American
University won the event with 40 points, while Rutgers (66), LaSalle
(88), East Stroudsburg (114) and Seton Hall (131) rounded out the
top five. UConn was sixth with 138 points and Muhlenberg was seventh
with 195.
Ben
Loht (jr. Lewistown/Indian Valley) led the Golden Bears,
placing 30th with a time of 26:56 in the 5-mile race.
Kevin Rodgers (so. Clifton Heights/Upper Darby)
was second for the Golden Bears, taking 44th place (27:31).
Ryan Reich (fr. Oley/Oley Valley) was 48th (27:39),
while
Paul Kuehnle (fr. Saddle Brook, N.J./Saddle Brook)
was 50th (27:42) and
Frank Nick (fr. Kintersville/Palisades)
was 55th (27:56).
The Golden Bears will
compete again
at the Pete Nevins Invitational on
Oct. 25.
