JOANNA HORSTMANN LEADS KU TO FOURTH PLACE FINISH

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Kutztown University women’s cross country team finished in fourth place out of fourteen at the Penn State Harry Groves Invitational on Saturday. The Golden Bears placed six runners in the top 50 out of the 188 finishers, scoring 153 points.

Joanna Horstmann (sr. Downingtown/Downingtown West) finished 16th place (22:46). Kristy Ulhrich (fr. Duncannon/Susquenita) came in at 29th place with a time of 23:27 and just after her was Kristin Cupido (so. Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) at 23:33, for 32nd place.

Hailey Dell (sr. Saranac Lake, N.Y./Saranac Lake) placed 37th with a time of 23:44and Steph Grimm (sr. Fleetwood/Oley Valley) finished three seconds behind at 23:47 for 39th place.

Cheryl Dingman (jr. Lansdale/North Penn) finished 45th place with a time of 24:06, teammate Maureen Watson (jr. Walnutport/Allentown Central Catholic) was just behind her at 24:22.

Kristy Ulhrich (fr. Duncannon/Susquenita) rounded out the Golden Bears’ top seven, placing 17th (23:33).

The Golden Bears will run again at the Salisbury Invitational on Saturday, September 27.


KU MEN PLACE 10TH AT PENN STATE SPIKED SHOE INVITATIONAL

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The KU men's cross country teamed finished in 10th place at the Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational on Saturday. With three placing in the top 50 out of 188 finishers.

Ben Loht (jr. Lewistown/Indian Valley) led all Golden Bears with a finish at 40th (28:18). Placing 45th and 50th were Kevin Rodgers (so. Clifton Heights/Upper Darby) and Ryan Reich (fr. Oley/Oley Valley) with times of 28:41 and 28:33, respectively.

Other notable times were Frank Nick (fr. Kintersville/Palisades) at 29:23 and Paul Kuehnle (fr. Saddle Brook, N.J./Saddle Brook) at 31:20.

The men will run again at the Salisbury Invitational on Saturday, September 27.
