Men Remain 7th in Atlantic Region for Third
Consecutive Week

KUTZTOWN, PA. (October
21, 2009) –
The Kutztown men's
cross-country team remained in seventh place for the third
consecutive week in the Atlantic
Region, according to the latest rankings released on Tuesday by the
U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Kutztown, picked to finish
tenth overall
in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) by the preseason
coaches’ poll previews,
has been able to maintain regional rankings with the success of
their two most current finishes.
Last weekend, at
the Lafayette Leopard Invitational, the Golden Bears placed sixth
overall. Senior
Ben Loht (Lewistown/Indian Valley)
finished 21st overall and first for Kutztown with a time of 21
minutes 26 seconds.
At the
Paul Short Invitational on Oct. 2, Loht finished first for Kutztown,
crossing the line 35th with a time of 25:50. He competed at the Iona
Meet of Champions on Sept. 29, finishing in 27:22. At the Maroon and
Gold Invitational, Loht finished the race first overall in 27:49.
Kutztown returns to action this weekend, when it competes in their
final meet of the regular season at East Stroudsburg
University’s Nevins Invitational on Oct. 24.
The
U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA)
is the non-profit professional organization that represents men's
and women's cross country and track & field coaches in the United
States. The organization represents over 8,000 coaching members,
including 91% of NCAA coaches. USTFCCCA serves as an advocate for
cross country and track & field coaches, providing a leadership
structure to assist the needs of a diverse membership, serving as a
lobbyist for coaches' interests, and working as a liaison between
the various stakeholders in the sports of cross country and track &
field.
