BLOOMSBURG, Pa. —
The Kutztown University baseball team traveled to Bloomsburg
Sunday and split its second doubleheader in as many days against the
Huskies.
Bloomsburg (7-19,
2-2 PSAC East) came out on top in the first game, 5-3, while KU's
offense came alive in the second game as the Golden Bears (12-12,
2-2 PSAC East) won 10-4.
KU will take
on Lincoln University in a doubleheader Tuesday at North Campus
Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
FOUR LATE RUNS
HELP HUSKIES WIN GAME ONE
BLOOMSBURG, Pa.
— The Golden Bears committed
two errors that proved to be costly as Garrison Rausch (sr.
Allentown/Parkland) took the hard-luck loss, a 5-3 setback to
Bloomsburg in the first game of a doubleheader Sunday.
Rausch tossed 5.1
innings, allowing six hits, while walking one and striking out two.
Four of the five runs scored by Bloomsburg were unearned.
KU had
its big inning in the away half of the fourth, as Michael Dugan
(r-fr. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) doubled to lead off the
inning, and Jeff Kistle (fr. Sandyston, NJ/Kittatinny)
singled to put two runners on for Scott Kacelowicz (so.
Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain), who doubled both runners in. KU added
another run in the inning to take a 3-1 lead.
Jared Frey (so.
Mohrsville/Schuylkill Valley) was 2-for-2 with two singles at
the plate for KU.
The sixth inning
was KU's undoing, as Bloomsburg scored four runs to take
the 5-3 lead. Mike Rosetti picked up the win for Bloomsburg, allowing three hits in 2.1 innings.
BULETZA,
DUGAN POWER KU TO 10-4 WIN OVER HUSKIES
BLOOMSBURG, Pa.
— Corey Buletza (fr.
St. Clair/Pottsville) went 3-for-5 with a double and hit a
three-run homer in the third inning to account for three of
KU's 10 runs in the Golden Bears' 10-4 win over Bloomsburg in the
second game of a doubleheader Sunday.
Michael Dugan (r-fr. Ocean City,
NJ/Ocean City) went 3-for-4 with two RBIs as KU churned out 16
hits.
Phillip Rummel
(sr. Exeter/West-Mont Christian) picked up his fourth victory of
the season, hurling six innings, while allowing nine hits, three
earned runs and five strikeouts. Jason Herr (fr. Harrisburg/C.D. East) pitched the
final inning to finish things off.
Mike Kacelowicz
(so. Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain) and Frey both had doubles
for KU, while Rausch had two singles.
Bloomsburg used
three pitchers, with Paul Culbertson taking the loss for the
Huskies.
