KU shut out in
doubleheader at Mansfield

MANSFIELD, Pa. —
The Kutztown University baseball team dropped a pair of games
against Mansfield Saturday at Shaute Field.
Mansfield posted
two shutouts in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East
doubleheader, winning 1-0 and 7-0.
The Mountaineers
(21-8,5-1 PSAC East) held the Golden Bears (12-14, 2-4 PSAC East) to
a combined 10 hits in the doubleheader.
Chad Lightcap
(jr. Boyertown/Boyertown) led the Golden Bears, going a combined
4-for-6 Saturday.
KU will return home
for a doubleheader against at 1 p.m. Sunday against Mansfield at
North Campus Field.

MANSFIELD COLLECTS
1-0 SHUTOUT OF KU
MANSFIELD, Pa. —
Nate Grove’s RBI single in the second inning was all Mansfield
needed as the Kutztown University baseball team fell 1-0 in the
first game of a doubleheader Saturday at Shaute Field.
Philip Rummel
(sr. Exeter/West-Mont Christian) started for the Golden Bears
and pitched six innings, holding the Mountaineers to one run on
seven hits. He struck out three.
The Golden Bears
were limited to just four hits. Lightcap led the way, going
2-for-3. Jared Frey (so. Mohrsville/Schuylkill Valley) and
Mike Kacelowicz (so. Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain) each had hits for
KU.
GOLDEN BEARS FALL 7-0 IN FINAL GAME OF DOUBLEHEADER
MANSFIELD, Pa. —
The Kutztown University baseball team stranded seven baserunners
as Mansfield collected its second straight shutout of the Golden
Bears, 7-0 in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday at Shaute
Field.
Lightcap led the
Golden Bears again, going 2-for-3.
The top half of
Mansfield’s lineup did the damage, as the top five spots scored all
seven runs. Ryan Giblin and Abram Yeakel each scored two runs, while
Justin Garcia went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Mansfield scored
two early runs in the bottom of the first inning and added a
combined five runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 7-0
lead.
