GORSKI'S 10 STRIKEOUTS LIFT KU TO 3-2 WIN

KUTZTOWN, Pa. — The Golden Bears used a three-run third inning to put away the Marauders in game one of their doubleheader Saturday at North Campus Field.

A two-RBI single by Matt Kulbacki (so. Hershey/Hershey) gave KU a 2-0 lead, and Jeff Kistle (r-fr. Sandyston, N.J./Kittatinny), who finished 2-for-3, singled in the eventual game-winner. All three runs were unearned as Jared Frey (so. Mohrsville/Schuylkill Valley), who scored a run for the Golden Bears, reached on an error.

Chad Lightcap (jr. Boyertown/Boyertown) and Corey Buletza (fr. St. Clair/Pottsville), who each drew walks, also scored in the inning.

Darin Gorski (so. Mount Joy/Donegal) pitched all seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits and five walks. He struck out 10 in his sixth win of the season. It was also his fourth complete game of the year.

Millersville loaded the bases with two singles and a walk to start the seventh, and with a fielder’s choice by Lance Miller, the Marauders cut the lead to 3-2. Gorski, however, got Derek Kline to pop out and the final batter grounded out.

MILLERSVILLE'S SEVENTH INNING RALLY DOWNS KU

KUTZTOWN, Pa. — The Golden Bears battled to tie the game at 1-1, but two seventh-inning tallies helped the Marauders pick up a 3-1 win in the second game of their doubleheader Saturday at North Campus Field.

Kline hit a two-run double in the top of the seventh off of starting pitcher Derick Reis (sr. Jim Thorpe/Jim Thorpe) for the win.

Before Kline’s double, Reis had held the Marauders to just one run on 11 hits, and worked out of back-to-back bases-loaded jams in the second and third innings.

Millersville managed a run on Reis in the top of the fourth when Ryan McCormick singled in Enrique Arroyo, who doubled to lead off the inning.

KU countered in the bottom of the fifth, when Scott Kacelowicz (so. Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain) drove in Garrison Rausch (sr. Allentown/Parkland) to tie the game at 1.

Kacelowicz finished 3-for-3, while Rausch was 2-for-3. Lightcap had a one-out double in the sixth inning and moved to third with two outs, but Rausch’s long fly ball was caught by center fielder Corey Phelan.
