BOXSCORE
SAVANNAH, Ga.
— Armstrong Atlantic State University hit a walk-off single in the
bottom of the ninth to hand the Kutztown University baseball team a
2-1 loss Saturday in the opening game of the 2008 Savannah

Joey Davis led off
the bottom of the ninth with a single, moved into scoring position
with a sacrifice bunt from Kenny Cail and scored on a base hit down
the third-base line by Josh Heath.

leading off the sixth inning with a double. He later scored on a
throwing error by the third baseman to tie the game at 1-1.
That was all for KU
(3-6), as Armstrong Atlantic (11-5) pitchers Jeff Chase and Nate
Herder combined to strike out 11 Golden Bears. They did allow six
walks, and another two Golden Bears reached on errors, but KU
couldn’t find a way to get them home, stranding nine baserunners in
the game.
Garrison Rausch

two runs on eight hits and one walk. He struck out three.
Rausch and the
Golden Bears fell behind 1-0 in the bottom of the first when Derrek
Miller hit an RBI-single, scoring Josh Wilson, who finished 2-for-4.
Michael Dugan
(r-fr. Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) had the other hit for KU,
and Mike Kacelowicz (so. Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain) drew three
walks in the game.
