early lead, hangs on for win

SAVANNAH, Ga.
— Darin Gorski pitched six strong innings and Mark
Renda and Chad Lightcap had three hits apiece to lead KU
to an 8-6 win over West Liberty State at the Savannah Invitational
on Sunday.
Gorski (2-1)
struck out eight over six scoreless innings for the win.
Lightcap was
3-for-3 with three RBI and Renda was 3-for-3 with three runs
and three stolen bases.
Kutztown scored all
of its runs in the first three innings. Cory Buletza's
RBI single highlighted KU's four-run first.
After the
Hilltoppers pulled within 8-6, Trent Mertz struck out two in
the top of the ninth to close the door and pick up the save.
KU (4-6) will face
Concord on Monday.
